  • I Will Never Pick Atlanta for Anything Ever Again. Ever.
    2025/10/30

The entire gang is back together to review the Mizzou loss in Nashville to Vanderbilt. Is the Pribula era over in Columbia or just taking a pause to recover? Tom's pre-season prediction of the dismissal of Brian Kelley at LSU comes to pass, and the governor of Louisiana is involved in picking a replacement. Huey Long would be proud.

The Chiefs deliver a second-consecutive home win and now travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. Lamar Jackson returns for the Ravens, and all may not be lost for Joe and Ron's pre-season Super Bowl pick.

Blue Horseshoe leads the team through five college games and five pro games and a strong bias against Atlanta is revealed.

The St. Louis Blues are a factory of sadness, and the goaltending is a primary culprit. Can things get worse? Never say never.

An entertaining World Series is unfolding, and the Dodgers and their ample resources are hanging on as the teams head back to Toronto. All of this and more, including a surprising case of chasing gambling losses on this week's episode of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

Mizzou wins an ugly game on the road on The Plains of Auburn and looks forward to a seismic matchup against Vandy this week, which will feature College Game Day. Where has their rushing attack gone?

The Chiefs dismantle the Raiders, and the Broncos accept a gift from the Giants. The Sportists take their weekly visit to Blue Horseshoe's Corner and pick five college games and five pro games. One Sportist insults Mizzou and then picks them.

  • I Can Not Punch Down Any Further
    2025/10/15

In the 50th episode of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast, April, Joe, Keith, and Ron talk about the Missouri Tigers taking a run at the Crimson Tide, and coming up short. Will they right the ship this weekend on The Plains of Auburn? And Ron goes on a rant with some life-improvement advice for Mizzou fans.

Lots of coaches are feeling their seats get very warm in both the college and pro ranks. James Franklin is out, but in the words of Dire Straits, he can look forward to some Money for Nothin'. Arch Manning and the Longhorns give opposing teams a "not so fast, my friend" with a decisive win in the Red River Rivalry. Also rising -- the Kansas City Chiefs -- who have gone from struggling to top form surprisingly quickly.

The Blues begin with a clunker on opening night, but rally in Western Canada. And the new roster additions are meshing nicely with the existing base.

Blue Horseshoe leads the team through college and pro picks for the weekend and Keith and Ron review a disappointing season for St. Louis CITY. All of this and how to handle it when a player on an arch-rival turns out to be a really good person on this week's episode of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • The St. Louis Blues Season Preview in 20 Questions
    2025/10/09

Tom, April, Keith, and Ron break down critical matchups for Mizzou and Illinois. Can the Tigers prove they're for real against Alabama? What can Illinois do to stop Ohio State? And who saw the Belichick story at North Carolina going sideways by early October?

The Chiefs have a night to forget in Jacksonville and high-powered Detroit comes to GEHA Field this weekend. And what's up with the rest of the league when the last two undefeated teams fall on the same weekend?

The St. Louis Blues begin the regular season and The Sportists have predictions - most all of them trending in aa positive direction. Can the Blues use the strong finish from last season as a springboard to an even more successful season?

City has won three out of their last four, but too little, too late. And Keith says to hold on the parade. All of this plus marketing genius and Ed Orgeron is even more serious about a comeback.

  • Ya Can't Get Rid of Everyone
    2025/10/02

Tom, Joe, Doug and Ron find a new leader in charge of the Cardinals. While wholesale changes may be in the offing, some people will need to stick around.

Joe considers his pre-season Super Bowl favorites the Ravens and determines that the Bandwagon is Injured. The Chiefs regain their old form and a former Chief (unfortunately) joins the "Joe Theisman Hall of Fame."

Mizzou takes a break while Illinois wins a tight one against USC. And in Fayetteville, Bobby Petrino rides again.

In-game betting has become HUGE and shows no signs of abating. The Sportists uniformly agree - don't chase money.

The Ryder Cup had a definite New York Feel, that is New York cab driver. Was the European team simply ... better?

Before the baseball season began, the guys offered very specific Cardinal predictions. And, well, we have receipts.

All of this and the philosophical question - what would Len Dawson do? Find out on this episode of The St. Louis Sportists podcast.

  • Like Foghorn Leghorn
    2025/09/25

Joe, Doug, Tom, and Ron survey the pro and college football landscape in this episode of The St. Louis Sportists podcast. Mizzou and the Chiefs score big wins while Illinois "declines to participate" against Indiana. The "permanent" opponents in the SEC are around for at least four years and Mizzou winds up with a regular appointment against the Aggies. Clemson is in a tailspin and Mike Gundy gets the news we all expected.

Jaxon Dart time comes for the Giants before anyone expected and the Chiefs-Ravens matchup will give us one AFC favorite with a 1-3 record. The guys deliver their pro and college picks with a visit from a Looney Tunes favorite.

The Ryder Cup is upon us and the European team has deployed an interesting training technique to handle New Yorkers. John Mozeliak and Miles Mikolas receive polite applause, but is it celebratory or are fans applauding their departure? Robot umps are coming to baseball, and the Sportists would like to welcome our new robotic overlords and remind them that as podcast hosts, we can be useful.

CITY wins again and moves ahead of Kansas. We look back at records that will not be broken with appearances from Cal Ripken (and Kevin Costner) and Bobby Moore. So, join us - you don't have to be a man, and 40 to enjoy this episode of the St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • Score Some Goals, Ya Knucklehead
    2025/09/18

April, Tom, Keith, Doug, and Ron discuss the Chiefs who have now lost games on two continents in this young NFL season. Is this the end of a dynasty or a hiccup on the way to a tasty steak at 1587 Prime? And how is Tyrod Taylor still in the league, much less starting this week? And will the "Last" Vegas Raiders break through this week?

Mizzou finally faces an SEC opponent but will have to wait to play a ranked team. Florida was throwing interceptions so quickly, The Sportists couldn't accurately text a correct count. On the weekly college picks, the gang wonders how Illinois is an underdog when they have major momentum.

With the "runway" season the Cardinals are concluding, which players have either taken off, crashed or remain on the runway? The Sportists consider several players with these three options (and some colorful aeronautical descriptions) in mind.

CITY wins a match! Keith makes the most of his additional 30 seconds to discuss the triumph. All of this and nightmarish memories of how Judge Houston likely cost the Blues a Stanley Cup or two on this week's edition of The St. Louis Sportists podcast.

  • The Micah Parsons Project
    2025/09/11

Hosts Ron Cook, Joe Spurlin, Doug Lansdown, Tom Mathis, and Keith Farroll discuss week two of college football and convincing wins for Mizzou and Illinois. What does it say when everyone knows the buyout amount for their head coach?

The Chiefs run into trouble south of the border and the Jaxon Dart era may begin in New York sooner than any of us thought. The Bills and Ravens stage an instant classic and the Lions are tamed in week one of the NFL season.

Blue Horseshoe takes the gang through picks for this weekend with six college games and five pro games featuring the unique reasoning and logic that you would expect from The Sportists. And yes, Blue Horseshoe was 5-0 against the spread on college games last week.

The Cardinals are looking for any positives as the season winds down and St. Louis CITY finds a new way to disappoint, despite gaining a draw. All of this and a reference to a Yoko Ono bonus track and a ride on The Mud Hut Express on this week's episode of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.
