  • Lookin' Good, Billy Ray
    2025/12/11

Joe, Doug, Tom, and Ron discuss the college football playoffs, a process that left everyone very happy. OK, maybe not.. They also explore proposed changes to the playoff system, the future of bowl games, and the matchups for Mizzou and Illinois.

Did Andy Reid gamble the season away for the Chiefs? Brady Cook and Shedeur Saners get their shot in the NFL and Philip Rivers is set to show that 44 is the new 22 -- without swearing.

Mizzou goes down hard in the Border War against Kansas and the last two minutes of college basketball games take a long, long time. And don'd feel bad if you can't name a Penn State basketball player.

The Cardinals don't make a move at the winter meetings, unlike when Rollie Fingers was briefly a Cardinal. Pete Alonso goes to Baltimore, but can he pitch?

The Blues are down to seven of their top 12 forwards, yet almost reached the .500 mark. Can they tread water until reinforcements return?

The soccer Billikens go for a National Championship this weekend and hydration breaks are coming to the World Cup, if players are thirsty or not (TV networks are!). All of this and cornering the market on frozen orange juice concentrate in this week's episode of the St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • Does That Scream Turkey Fryer?
    2025/12/04

April, Joe, Tom, and Ron enter a new world where sports betting is now legal in Missouri. Does the onslaught of gamblin' ads have them yearning for a political spot?

Mizzou comes out of chilly Fayetteville with a win and Drink gets an extension, but the consensus is that changes need to be made to reach the next level. The coaching carousel spins at lightning speed and the circus comes to Baton Rouge in the form of the Lane Train. Will Tom accept the Penn State job if offered?

The Chiefs have made every game a playoff game after a Thanksgiving turkey in Dallas. Is Patrick Mahomes just taking his love for the edge to a new extreme? Is the long tenure of Mike Tomlin coming to an end in Pittsburgh?

The gang picks five pro games and a couple of college playoff games with a look at chaos scenarios. And if you want to become a professional gambler, Blue Horseshoe has some cold, hard math for you to consider.

The Blues are better, but still bad and the goaltender and the coach are chirping at each other. And a unique injury has inquiring minds wanting to know more. Are lines being juggled too frequently at the cost of stability?

Mizzou faces the Jayhawks on the hardwood this weekend after a rough night against Notre Dame. And agressive early-season scheduling has The Sportists watching more college hoops earlier in the season in a long time.

All of this and a look at Olympic hockey venue chaos (play outside!) on this loaded edition of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • There Will Be a Streaker
    2025/11/26

Happy Thanksgiving from The St. Louis Sportists! Mizzou fails yet again to take down a ranked opponent. Do they have gas left in the tank to take down the Razorbacks this weekend? And How Long will Joe and his family brave the elements and possible streakers?

Illinois gets jumped in Wisconsin and the coaching carousel prepares for madness as the Lane Kiffin decision approaches. And just when can we believe when a coaching move is official?

The Chiefs win a must-win game against the Colts and have a quick turnaround to take on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Are the Lions the Chiefs of the NFC?

Blue Horseshoe takes the gang through five college and five pro games (for recreational purposes only) and the slate of games basically runs from Thursday morning through Monday night.

The Blues show few signs of improvement at the quarter mark of the season. Is it time for a change-of-scenery deal for a player once thought to be a cornerstone for the future?

The Cardinals say so long Sonny Gray and ship their number one starter to Boston, but receive shockingly promising prospects in return. The Brendan Donnovan market is warmer than usual and Ryan Helsley's agent gets credit for creativity.

All of this plus college hoops "Feast Week," Billiken soccer success and the dangerous nature of kangaroos on this week's action-packed edition of The St. Louis Sportists podcast.

  • Like He's Telling You a Secret
    2025/11/21

In this episode of the St. Louis Sportists Podcast, Joe, Doug, and Tom prepare for Mizzou's trip to Norman, which hasn't yielded the desired result since 1966. Who will take the snaps at QB for the Tigers?

One decision from Lane Kiffin could start the college football coaching carousel spinning wildly. Will Drink stay or go? What about Arkansas? It's madness!

The Chiefs biff in Denver, but may not drop another contest in the regular season. Jameis has a secret and will Shedeur time be prime time? Aaron Rodgers is expected to emerge from the Mudhut fully healed and the Browns have had LOTS of kickers and quarterbacks.

The gang picks five college and five pro games including Missouri's "other" 7-3 team, the Missouri State Bears. The Blues continue to find new floors and may be looking at a sell-off sooner rather than later.

Brendan Donnovan is sought after on the trade market, but may not reap a fantastic return. The good news is a surprisingly good TV deal means that you'll be able to watch him play wherever he winds up.

All this and a shout-out to KMOX at 100 and the potential for arson in Oxford on this week's episode of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • We Strong Then
    2025/11/13

The Sportists celebrate one year of podcasting magic by revisiting the Texas A&M visit to Columbia. Is it a bad thing when the defense is calling out your plays before the snap? If Drink goes elsewhere, will he take talented Tigers with him?

Suddenly, Mizzou isn't the only 6-3 BCS team in Missouri -- hello Missouri State! And, it's officially a mess in Baton Rouge as Bryan Kelly and LSU are having a less-than-amicable parting.

The third-place Chiefs (yes, third!) head to Denver for a crucial AFC West matchup and Blue Horseshoe leads the gang through five college and five NFL picks. Trap games and steel buildings are involved.

The Blues are better, but not good and the condensed NHL schedule isn't helping. But the guys agree that Monty is the right coach for the job.

The hammer comes down on two Cleveland pitchers in the MLB edition of "The 2025 Gambling Scandal." The Cardinals are open for business at the Winter Meetings with some surprising names surfacing.

All of this and early season college hoops and eager anticipation for a return to action for Jameis Winston. The Sportists thank YOU for being part of season one ... and hopefully many more!

  • If the Script Ever Gets Out, it's Over
    2025/11/06

Joe, Doug and Ron talk about MIzzou's upcoming game with Texas A&M and ponder what happens if the Tigers lose another QB? Is it wishbone time? They also look at the Mizzou record with the first playoff rankings out. Is there such a thing as a quality loss?

Elsewhere, the coaching carousel continues to spin and Hugh Freeze cancels a standing tee time. U-Mass is 0-9 and Joe says they are worse than their record indicates. Dabo Swinney is having a very interesting Fall and Indiana has not regressed to the mean (they would invite you to Google it).

The Chiefs have a rough trip to upstate New York. They're still the betting favorites to win the Super Bowl, yet they would not make the playoffs if they began today. It's all in the script. The Steelers keep winning by playing "varsity football." Blue Horseshoe leads the team through the college and pro picks for the week and, well, improvement is needed.

It's getting late early for the St. Louis Blues and giving up five goals per game is not a way to improve their situation. The World Series was a classic and America was watching.

It's college basketball season and Doug does his best to start an international incident. We apologize to any of our Belarus friends. All this and a reminder that a late-night "FedEx delivery" may end badly on this week's edition of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • I Will Never Pick Atlanta for Anything Ever Again. Ever.
    2025/10/30

The entire gang is back together to review the Mizzou loss in Nashville to Vanderbilt. Is the Pribula era over in Columbia or just taking a pause to recover? Tom's pre-season prediction of the dismissal of Brian Kelley at LSU comes to pass, and the governor of Louisiana is involved in picking a replacement. Huey Long would be proud.

The Chiefs deliver a second-consecutive home win and now travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. Lamar Jackson returns for the Ravens, and all may not be lost for Joe and Ron's pre-season Super Bowl pick.

Blue Horseshoe leads the team through five college games and five pro games and a strong bias against Atlanta is revealed.

The St. Louis Blues are a factory of sadness, and the goaltending is a primary culprit. Can things get worse? Never say never.

An entertaining World Series is unfolding, and the Dodgers and their ample resources are hanging on as the teams head back to Toronto. All of this and more, including a surprising case of chasing gambling losses on this week's episode of The St. Louis Sportists Podcast.

  • He Called it His Wallet
    2025/10/23

Joe, Doug, Keith, and Ron take on one of the busiest seasons in sports. The Blues are off to an inconsistent start, and Coach Jim Montgomery is frustrated.

Mizzou wins an ugly game on the road on The Plains of Auburn and looks forward to a seismic matchup against Vandy this week, which will feature College Game Day. Where has their rushing attack gone?

College coaches are playing musical chairs with 10 vacancies out of 136 FBS schools. Time to start tracking flight paths and tail numbers?

The Chiefs dismantle the Raiders, and the Broncos accept a gift from the Giants. The Sportists take their weekly visit to Blue Horseshoe's Corner and pick five college games and five pro games. One Sportist insults Mizzou and then picks them.

CITY wraps up a frustrating season and the guys ponder, when is a backpack actually a wallet? All of this and women's baseball on this week's episode of The St. Louis Sportists podcast.
