Before The Bodyguard takes its first bow, we’re taking you inside the room where the new national tour is coming to life.

In this exclusive episode of The Spotlight: A Theatre Podcast, Scott McGorty and Rudi Arrowood from the Membership Team at The American Theatre Guild sit down with Samantha Saltzman, director of the brand-new national tour of The Bodyguard — before the production launches in Toledo this October.

With Broadway, West End, and international touring credits, Samantha takes us behind the curtain to reveal how a major new tour is built: the creative choices shaping the production, the process of bringing this iconic story and unforgettable music back to the stage, and what audiences can expect when they experience it for the first time.

Your backstage access starts here.

Welcome to the very first episode of The Spotlight: A Theatre Podcast, the official podcast of The American Theatre Guild!

We're starting with the show that turned a founding father into a household name. Auston Henderson plays George Washington in the national tour of HAMILTON, and he joins us to talk about what it takes to step into one of the most recognizable roles in modern musical theatre; eight shows a week, in a different city every few weeks.

If HAMILTON has been a favorite, on your list for years, or if you've only heard the hype, this is a good place to start.

Follow Auston on Instagram at @austonotusa.

HAMILTON plays Birmingham as part of the Broadway In Birmingham season presented by The American Theatre Guild.
