In this testimony-series episode, I open up about how my view of mental health, addiction, and recovery has changed through hard personal experience. I share how I once dismissed depression and anxiety, relied on alcohol and other coping mechanisms to numb pain, and spent years chasing quick fixes instead of doing the deeper work. Looking back, I talk humbly about what I believe failed me, what I learned from relapse, and how my search for healing eventually brought me to humility, prayer, and a deeper dependence on God.I also reflect on recovery culture, labels, therapy versus coaching, community, and the importance of spiritual grounding in any healing journey. More than anything, this episode is a message of hope for anyone who feels trapped in addiction, despair, or darkness: you are loved, you are not alone, and asking for help is a brave beginning. I close by encouraging listeners to seek wise support, stay connected to people who pull them toward life and faith, and remember that lasting peace is something we build through daily practice, surrender, and love.✝️ Get the 11x LOVE Masterclass for FREE https://djvalerieblove.com/11xlove ~ Join the LOVE Tribe for FREE!https://djvalerieblove.com/community~ Thank You for Supporting the LOVE Mission! https://djvalerieblove.com/donate~ SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCASTYOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@djvaleriebloveWEBSITE: https://djvalerieblove.com/podcastFOUNTAIN.FM: https://fountain.fm/show/761jhxFiibErm7eZZdltAPPLE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dj-valerie-b-love-podcast/id1441540841SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/show/6kZfzFZ3wKmWiljDajrJZ5?si=a9433473b06f464bRSS: https://serve.podhome.fm/rss/4996bcea-e098-5a89-ac63-af7a3df7cb5d~ FOLLOW DJ Valerie X: https://x.com/djvaleriebloveNOSTR: https://primal.net/djvaleriebloveFACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/djValerieBLoveINSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/djvalerieblove/LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dj-valerie-b-love/ (00:00:32) Opening prayer and a changed view of depression(00:02:32) Hiding pain, numbing with alcohol, and denial(00:06:12) Rejecting antidepressants and questioning quick fixes(00:08:33) Why the mental health system feels broken(00:14:42) Personal growth without peace and the search for God(00:18:42) Mental health as a deeper spiritual crisis(00:24:10) Prayer, patience, and turning life over to God(00:28:18) Rejecting labels in recovery and identity(00:31:47) Jesus, community, and support beyond therapy(00:46:01) Therapy, marriage counseling, and unmet needs(00:49:20) Addiction, spiritual warfare, and daily resistance(00:54:54) A closing message of hope, help, and faith988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: https://988lifeline.org/
