While Alexander the Great was conquering Persia, one Spartan king saw an opportunity to challenge Macedonian power. His name was Agis III.
With Alexander campaigning far from Greece, Agis gathered allies, raised an army, and led a rebellion against Macedonian control. The uprising culminated at the Battle of Megalopolis in 331 BC, where Agis fought at the front and was killed resisting Macedonia.
In this episode of The Forgotten Thrones TV Podcast, James P. Patterson explores the story of the Spartan king who dared to oppose the empire Alexander was building.
