The surgeon who sold miracles in the operating theatre — and fantasies in his love life.

In this episode, Chloe and Kieran unravel the dual life of Paolo Macchiarini, the world‑famous doctor whose synthetic trachea transplants were hailed as revolutionary science… until the truth surfaced. Behind the prestige, the awards, and the glowing press coverage was a trail of patients harmed by procedures that were never ready — and a pattern of lies that followed him across continents.

But Macchiarini’s deception didn’t stop in the hospital.

The Hills also dive into his elaborate romance scam: the fabricated stories, the false identities, the grand promises, and the emotional manipulation that left his partner questioning everything she thought she knew. It’s a chilling look at how the same charisma that opened doors in elite medical institutions also enabled a deeply personal web of deceit.

A forensic, unsettling exploration of ambition, manipulation, and the catastrophic consequences when a man trusted by many is telling the truth to no one.
