  • 20. 'My kids are gifted. They must have got it from their dad, right?'
    2024/09/24

Lotte is a mother of 4 kids, some of whom are gifted. Her son's coach recently told her: 'your children got their intelligence from you'. But Lotte can't believe that she would be the gifted parent. It surely must have come from their dad's side, right?

I get approached by so many moms like Lotte, who simply can't believe they are gifted themselves. Women who feel the opposite of smart. Tune in to this conversation to hear me coach Lotte on how to change her self-image.

  • 19. 'Am I showing off?' On dealing with jealous people
    2024/09/10

Regina is an architect who fears she comes across as a 'show-off'. She wants to feel proud of the things she does, but doesn't want others to resent her for her achievements. Her friends often aren't willing to celebrate her, and she's seen several friendships end over this. How to deal with the jealousy of others?

In this session, we discuss how being confident and successful can inspire some but trigger others. Being gifted can lead to mixed responses from people around you. And it's easy to fall into the trap of dimming your light to try to be more relatable. Listen to this episode to find out how to deal with this.

  • 18. 'If only I'd found out about giftedness sooner...'
    2024/06/18

Manon found out about her giftedness later in life, and struggles with sadness around this discovery. She feels like it's too late, she has many regrets, and wishes she could turn back the clock so she could do 'big things'. Now she wonders: what should I do next?

A 'late' discovery often comes with mixed feelings. It can be overwhelming, and even make you feel like you're grieving. Mourning the opportunities that were lost because you didn't know sooner. Mourning because you spent so much time trying to adapt and wish away your 'weirdness', instead of pursuing grand ambitions.

In this coaching session, I guide Manon through these complex feelings and address this sadness.

  • 16. Dare to be different, at any age
    2024/05/21

Yury is a 22-year old gifted student from Russia who feels like he is different from others in his age group. He prioritizes and values different things, and struggles with societal pressure to act more like a 'normal 22-year-old'. He is concerned he should be going out and partying more, instead of being so focused on work.

In this episode, we focus on two issues:

    1. How to live his life authentically as a gifted person, and own the ways in which he diverges from the norm

    2. How to divide his time between work and studies according to his own wishes - and no one else's.

  • 15. This is your life. Live it for YOU.
    2024/05/06

This episode exposes the limits of what coaching can do. It shows the difference between therapy versus coaching.

I am joined by Libby, who starts off the conversation with a focus on time management. But along the way, we uncover the underlying reasons as to why Libby is short on time and can't accomplish her goals. Here, we touch on traumatic topics including abuse, toxic family dynamics, and unrealistic expectations around caregiving.

Libby and I both acknowledge that I am not the qualified person to give her the support she needs, but we agree to approach the subjects from a coaching perspective. Have a listen to the moving conversation that results from this.
