God's command is almost unbearable: take your son, your only son, and offer him as a sacrifice. For three deliberate days, Abraham walks toward Moriah with Isaac at his side, trusting that the God who gave him this son against every impossibility can be trusted even now.

When Isaac asks where the lamb is, Abraham answers with faith he cannot yet fully explain: "God will provide."

At the last possible moment, the angel of the Lord stops hishand, and a ram appears, caught in a thicket — a substitute, dying in Isaac's place.

This episode traces obedience that costs everything, provision that arrives exactly when needed, and a mountain that foreshadows another hill nearby, centuries later, where God would not spare His Own Son, but gave Him up as the true and final Lamb.

Ten years into God's promise, Abraham and Sarah are stillchildless — and impatience leads them to a human shortcut that fractures their household and sends Hagar fleeing into the wilderness. There, God meets her first, and she names Him El Roi, the God who sees. Years later, Abraham repeats thesame failure of fear at Gerar, lying about Sarah again, yet God still works through his weakness. Finally, twenty-five years after the promise was first spoken, Isaac is born — laughter at last — though his arrival leads to Hagar and Ishmael being sent away, and God meets them again in their own wilderness.Across Genesis 16, 20 and 21, this episode traces what it costs to stop waiting on God's timing, and the far greater truth that His faithfulness never depends on ours. Isaac points forward to every believer reborn by grace; Ishmael, to every outsider drawn near through Christ.

Genesis 18 – 19

In this episode…. Three visitors arrive at Abraham’s tent in the heat of the day, and one of them speaks with a voice no created being could carry.

Sarah laughs bitterly behind the tent wall, and God asks the question that hangs over the whole of Genesis: is anything too hard for the LORD?

Then the LORD turns toward Sodom – and does something astonishing. He takes Abraham into His confidence, and Abraham draws near and begins to plead. Fifty righteous, forty, thirty, twenty, ten…. And here is what should stop us in our tracks: God never once refuses. It is Abraham who stops asking.

In Genesis 19 we walk into a city where every restraint has collapsed, and we watch a man so corroded by the place he chose that he can no longer tell right from wrong. Yet Lot is saved – not because he is righteous, but because he is seized by the hand, “the LORD being merciful to him.”

And in the end, the ten cannot be found. So God sends One. Not ten righteous to spare a city – but one righteous man, dragged outside the gate, to save a world.
