Shelly Miscavige has not appeared in public since 2005 and that single fact keeps raising the same unsettling question: how can the wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige seemingly disappear while the Church insists everything is fine? We take the “Where is Shelly Miscavige?” mystery seriously, but we also zoom out to the larger system that makes vanishings, silence and isolation feel normal to the people living inside it.

We’re joined by Mitch Brisker, who spent nearly 50 years in Scientology and worked for decades as an outside professional filmmaker at Golden Era Productions at Scientology’s International Base. Mitch shares what Shelly’s day-to-day presence looked like when she was still in the inner circle, what changed when she was suddenly gone, and why even a surprising 2008 sighting in Redlands didn’t automatically read as an emergency to someone still operating with a Scientology mindset. We also unpack the coded language that keeps people quiet, including the way “special projects” can mean punishment, isolation and being effectively unreachable.

From there, we dig into how authority gets manufactured and enforced, how RTC “handlings” can intrude into marriages and private lives, and why Lou (Larice Stukenbrock) stepping into the gatekeeper role changes the entire temperature around David Miscavige. Mitch also shares details that highlight double standards, narrative control and the human cost behind the headlines, including the tragedy surrounding Lou’s husband Uwe.

If you care about Shelly’s safety, human rights, and the reality of coercive control inside Scientology and the Sea Org, listen, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the conversation. What detail in Mitch’s account hits you the hardest?
