On this episode of Coaching Call, Sifu Rafael welcomes Amethysta Herrick, Ph.D., known as Ami, a scientist, storyteller, and writer who explores one of life's most personal questions: Who are we, really?

We spend our lives developing an identity, but how much of who we are comes from within, and how much is shaped by the expectations of others?

As a transgender woman, Ami brings her personal experience and scientific curiosity to conversations about gender, identity, self-perception, and the complexities of being human.

Through The Purplepaw Blog, her writing, and podcasting, she encourages people to examine identity with curiosity rather than assumptions.

We'll explore the relationship between science and personal experience, the challenges of overthinking, the importance of honest self-expression, and why understanding someone else's perspective doesn't require having the same experiences.

At the heart of this conversation is something that matters to all of us: learning to communicate, listen, and understand one another.

Because before we can truly connect with others, we need to understand who we are.
