  • The Saints in Paris: More Than Just a Game
    2026/10/31

Another week, another Saints defeat. This time a 10–16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris. But while the performance on the field gave us plenty to moan about, the weekend itself delivered memories that will last a lifetime.

Daniel, Mike and special guests James, Shane and Vedran look back on an unforgettable few days in the City of Love, bringing together Saints fans from across the globe for a weekend of football, friendship, questionable decisions and more than a few beverages.

We don't completely avoid the football, though. Slow starts, missed field goals, an absent running game and an offence seemingly searching for its identity all come under the microscope. There's also a rather heated discussion about Kellen Moore, Gayle Benson, the direction of the organisation and whether the Saints' international ambitions have become more about PR and personal prestige than the fans and the product on the field.

But the real story is what happened away from the Stade de France.

From Shane's extended London adventure and Vedran's rather eventful journey to Paris, to Saints fans taking over the streets, bars and boulevards, we relive the moments that made this trip so special. There's the incredible atmosphere at the Saints bar, the international Who Dat takeover, questionable encounters, Parisian shenanigans and stories that probably should have stayed in France.

We also reflect on something much bigger than one game or one weekend: the friendships, connections and sense of family that this incredible Saints community has created across countries and continents.

Because the Saints might be testing our patience, our loyalty and our bank balances, but they've also given us something pretty special.

The final score might have been disappointing, but the weekend was anything but.

Different countries. Different accents. One common bond. Who Dat!

  • Steve Hyde: The Saints, The City & The Day Drinking Club
    2026/09/26

Saints, Shough & Questionable Decisions in New Orleans

The Saints are 1-1, Steve Hyde is back, and somehow a few drinks and a last-minute trip to New Orleans have combined to create another cracking episode of Saints City Me.

Daniel, Mike and Steve look back at the agonising Lions loss and the Saints' impressive road victory over Baltimore. We discuss the slow starts, Tyler Shough's development, the emergence of Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson, the potential impact of Jordan Tyson and whether the Saints' passing attack could be something special.

    How's Dan's Preseason Bets Going?

A brand-new feature sees Daniel check in on his increasingly interesting preseason wagers.

Chris Olave at 125/1. Chase Young at 500/1. Kellen Moore at 12/1. And Tyler Shough at 80/1 and 100/1.

Let's just say the bookmakers are starting to notice the Saints… and Dan is starting to look slightly less ridiculous.

We also look ahead to the Raiders and discuss what needs to improve — particularly the run game and those frustrating slow starts.

    New Orleans Bound

Steve and Mike are heading back to New Orleans for a very special weekend celebrating the Superdome's 20th anniversary and Drew Brees' induction into the Saints Ring of Honor.

We hear how the trip came together, plans for Baton Rouge, meeting up with Saints fans, a very special pre-game opportunity courtesy of Jerry Wiley, and the discovery of the New Orleans Day Drinking Club.

Plus, Steve gives us the story of how he became a Saints fan and faces the traditional SCM quick-fire questions — including his favourite Saints player, New Orleans bar, food and restaurant.

And yes, we revisit the infamous Voodoo Ranger/streetcar incident.

The Saints are 1-1. The optimism is back. The anxiety remains.

And Steve Hyde is going back to New Orleans.

  • SCM: Neutral Grounds - Detroit Lions fan Fletch
    2026/09/09

The season is almost here, so we’re dusting off one of our favourite concepts: SCM: Neutral Grounds — This time, it’s a meeting of two fanbases who perhaps have more in common than either would like to admit.

Daniel and Mike are joined by Fletch, Lions fan and founder of the AAW Network, for a wide-ranging conversation about NFL fandom, finding your team, rebuilding franchises, and what happens when a Saints fan hands a Lions fan a microphone and tells him to have at it.

We kick things off with the strange but brilliant world of the UK NFL community, where the league might span thousands of miles but somehow everyone seems to know everyone. Fletch shares the story of being recognised at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin — and the moment his wife realised her husband had apparently become a minor celebrity.

From there, we get into why Fletch chose Detroit. It’s a story built around music, Detroit, Eminem, Megatron, Matthew Stafford and, crucially, avoiding the easy option of simply picking whoever was winning at the time. We discuss why the best NFL fandom isn't necessarily about picking the biggest or most successful team — it's about finding a city, culture and community you can connect with.

And there are plenty of parallels with New Orleans.

Then we get down to the football.

Fletch gives us the Lions perspective on team building, explaining how Detroit transformed itself through the draft, culture and some bold decisions — including the Matt Stafford trade that ultimately helped both the Lions and Rams. We discuss Jared Goff, Dan Campbell, the Lions' recent turnaround and whether Detroit can provide a blueprint for what the Saints are trying to build under Kellen Moore.

We get into the Lions' biggest strengths and weaknesses, including an explosive offence led by Jahmyr Gibbs, the uncertainty surrounding their offensive line, and the defensive injuries that could give Tyler Shough and the Saints an opportunity.

And then comes the friendly fire.

Fletch explains why Chris Olave could be in for a big game, reveals the Saints player he'd happily steal for Detroit, and gives his assessment of where the Saints can be attacked.

There’s also some love for Jordan Tyson, a bit of Amon-Ra St. Brown slander from Daniel, and a reminder that even when you're talking football, there is always time to discuss the important things — like which fanbases are the most annoying.

And Fletch has a very clear answer.

    Bears fans.

By the end, this is exactly what Neutral Grounds is supposed to be: rival fans talking football, giving each other plenty of stick, but ultimately discovering that the thing that connects us is far stronger than the team on the front of the jersey.

Saints. Lions. New Orleans. Detroit. Banter. Football.

    Welcome to the Neutral Ground.

  • Visit every NFL stadium, and then some? Michele says “completed it mate”…
    2026/09/04

What starts with following Cheltenham Town through the lower leagues turns into a life spent chasing football grounds around the world.

In this episode of The Saints, the City, and Me, we’re joined by Michele Mas, whose love of football, travel and live sport has taken her to all 92 English Football League clubs, countless European grounds and, eventually, every NFL stadium in the United States.

Michele talks us through the journey, from finishing the 92 before moving to France, memorable nights at places like Anfield and the old Upton Park, and why some stadiums have a soul that simply can’t be recreated in a modern arena. We also swap stories about the intimidating side of English football, from hostile away days to getting chased through Wolverhampton and Cardiff.

Then the conversation crosses the Atlantic.

Michele explains how NFL Europe and a rain-soaked game in London first sparked her interest in American football, before a trip to Foxborough opened the door to a whole new way of combining football, travel and exploring America. One stadium became two, two became a few… and eventually she and Matt had visited all 32.

And somewhere along the way, New Orleans happened.

From her father's cassette of New Orleans jazz to discovering the Saints after Hurricane Katrina, a Monday Night Football experience and that first unforgettable trip to the Superdome, Michele explains how the city gradually pulled her towards the Saints — long before she ever considered herself a serious fan.

We also look ahead to Paris, the Saints' growing international appeal, what France might make of the NFL, and why travelling for football is about so much more than the game itself.

Because for Michele, the destination isn't always the point. It's the stadiums, the cities, the atmosphere, the journeys — and, most importantly, the people you meet along the way.

305 stadiums. 28 countries. 909 games. And apparently, she's still not finished.

  • We’re back baby! With the nicest Saints fan in the world, Shane
    2026/08/21

We’re back! After a little time away, The Saints, the City, and Me returns just as the Saints are gearing up for another season — and there’s already plenty to talk about.

We kick things off by celebrating the greatest Saint of them all as Drew Brees finally takes his rightful place in Canton. We reflect on his Hall of Fame induction, his emotional speech, his extraordinary connection with New Orleans, and why, as we put it, “Nobody has ever meant more to any franchise.”

But it’s not all nostalgia. Training camp is underway, the preseason is approaching, and Saints fans have already experienced the full range of emotions — from the panic surrounding Jordan Tyson’s injury to the optimism coming out of joint practices with Jacksonville, where Tyler Shough has been turning heads.

We also dive into the quarterback battle, training camp drama, fights and camaraderie, the latest roster battles, and what we’ve learned about the Saints ahead of the new season.

Plus, we look ahead to the Saints’ return to Paris, discuss the growing international Saints fanbase, and hear Shane’s incredible journey as a Saints fan — from his first game during the Mike Ditka era to season tickets, playoff heartbreak and some unforgettable Saints memories.

And, because no conversation about Louisiana is complete without it, there’s plenty of chat about food, culture, favourite Saints players and what makes the relationship between New Orleans and its football team so special.

Shane is also raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and we’d love for you to support his fundraising efforts. If you can, please consider making a donation here:

After a long break, we’re back — and the Saints are giving us plenty to talk about.

  • From Glasgow to Game Day: Maggie the Scottish Saints Matriarch
    2026/05/04

What starts as a birthday trip turns into something much bigger in this episode, as we follow Maggie Tennant’s journey from Scotland to New Orleans—a city that didn’t just meet expectations, it completely reshaped her world.

Eight years ago, Maggie arrived in the Crescent City for her partner’s 40th, expecting great music, food, and atmosphere. What she didn’t expect was to fall head-over-heels for its energy—from late nights on Bourbon Street to jazz-filled days in the French Quarter. But the biggest surprise? American football.

With zero background in the sport, Maggie’s introduction to the New Orleans Saints came later, during lockdown. What began as curiosity quickly turned into obsession—early alarms, late nights, and a growing love for the drama, intensity, and community that surrounds the team. Somewhere along the way, the Saints became more than a team—they became a connection back to a city she couldn’t shake.

In this episode, we unpack how fandom can grow in unexpected places, how WhatsApp groups and global communities turn strangers into friends, and why cities like New Orleans—and even Havana—leave such a lasting imprint on those who visit.

There are stories of wild nights, near-missed hurricanes, unforgettable meals, and the kind of laughter that only comes from being slightly out of your comfort zone. But at its heart, this episode is about something deeper: finding belonging in a place far from home.

Whether you’re a die-hard Saints fan, a curious newcomer, or someone chasing that feeling of falling in love with a city, Maggie’s story is a reminder that sometimes the best things in life are the ones you never planned for.

  • Vedran, the worlds only Croatian Saints Fan (allegedly)
    2026/04/18

What happens when a Croatian football fan discovers a deep, unexpected connection to New Orleans? In this episode, we follow Vedran, a Croatia-born Saints supporter now living in the UK, as he shares a remarkable journey that proves community, culture, and football can transcend borders in the most meaningful ways.

From first reading about Hurricane Katrina in the newspapers to falling in love with the resilience and spirit of the New Orleans Saints, Vedran’s story is one of curiosity turned into connection. What begins as distant admiration evolves into a personal pilgrimage, as he finally steps into the city he’d long imagined, only to find it exceeds every expectation.

Along the way, Vedran uncovers surprising Croatian roots woven into the fabric of New Orleans, from its culinary traditions to iconic institutions like Drago Seafood. He reflects on the magic of the city’s street life, where jazz spills into courtyards, dive bars feel like home, and strangers quickly become friends, and explains why the Superdome stands as far more than just a stadium, but a powerful symbol of resilience and unity.

This episode dives into what it truly means to belong to a team, a city, and a global community of fans. It’s a story about passion crossing oceans, about how sport can anchor identity, and about the life-changing moments that happen when you follow that pull.

Whether you’re an NFL fan abroad, a lover of travel and culture, or simply someone searching for deeper human connection, this conversation is a reminder that the world feels smaller, and richer, when we embrace the stories that bring us together.
