Brought to you by Longton Blackwell lawyers, the podcast is a knowledgeable insiders conversation between three highly experienced practitioners in the field of Work Health and Safety law. Tracje Cvetcovski is a former WHS prosecutor and now an Associate Professor at ACU with very interesting takes on WHS issues. Neville Weston, Barrister, defended the famous Auto Recyclers case in Queensland and has defended executives and workers. Andrew Ross was previously a Mining Health and Safety prosecutor before joining podcast supporter Longton Blackwell as Practice Leader. Andrew is also an employment lawyer and a former Assistant Crown Solicitor. Trajce and Neville co-authored a recent paper analysing Industrial Manslaughter WHS laws across Australia:- https://www.qlsproctor.com.au/2026/07/workplace-death-laws-disjointed-patchwork-acu-research-finds/.
We discuss topical areas in WHS laws (HVNL, WHS, Rail Safety, Bus Safety, Mining and Marine laws etc) across Australia, including the coverage of the laws into all facets of our working lives, into schools, not for profits, roadsides, after work supported functions, farms, government agencies like Defence, and more. We look at how different industries work with WHS laws and the emergence of psychosocial risk management. We look at how employers and employees, experienced and inexperienced, get it right or wrong. We are conversational rather than technical in approach and we deliberately take strong points of view (or use the socratic method) to facilitate informed discussion. All views expressed are personal and not those of Longton Blackwell.
