In the summer of 1947, a rancher in rural New Mexico found a large debris field strewn across his land, following a thunderstorm. The pieces were made of a lightweight metallic alloy that could seemingly be crumpled up like tin foil, only to return to its original shape. Other pieces had strange pinkish symbols that he couldn’t identify. He took the pieces to the local sheriff, who told him to contact the Air Force base and report it. When the Air Force base sent out an intelligence agent to investigate, he collected the pieces and reported back, leading to the only time in US history that the military released a statement stating that they had recovered pieces of a flying saucer.
