Some experiences are difficult to explain. Sometimes, finding the words is part of the work. In Episode 2, I sat down with Mack Bailey, founder of Music Therapy Retreats, for a conversation about music, service, trauma, and what it can look like to find a way forward. Mack shares the work he and his team are doing through music, therapeutic songwriting, and connection to create a space for veterans to process their experiences and tell their stories. We talk about what people carry with them after service, the transition into what comes next, and what happens when you finally have an outlet for something you may not have known how to put into words. We also dive into how Music Therapy Retreats came to be, the impact Mack has seen through this work, and why creating spaces for veterans to connect, be heard, and share their experiences matters. This conversation is about more than music. It’s about the stories we carry, the people willing to listen, and finding different ways to work through what comes next.
