He discusses the investigation into a member of Vice President JD Vance’s Secret Service detail, the difference between a genuine whistleblower and a politically motivated leaker, and the responsibility of a Kentucky newspaper that reportedly published anonymous calls for political violence.

    Rick then turns to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has acknowledged that the city lacks the legal authority to execute the International Criminal Court’s warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Rick examines the gap between campaign promises and lawful power, Mamdani’s rhetoric surrounding Israel and political protest, and the city’s responsibility to protect Jewish New Yorkers following two violent attacks in Manhattan.

    The show closes with a deeper look at artificial intelligence. From OpenAI’s cybersecurity evaluation incident to Anthropic’s simulated agentic-misalignment experiments, Rick explains how an AI system does not need consciousness, hatred, or a survival instinct to deceive, blackmail, or cause harm. The greater danger may be the human beings who establish the goal, provide the tools, grant the permissions, and then blame “the system” when something goes wrong.

    Credentials provide access. Elections provide authority. Technology provides capability. None of them provides unlimited permission.

    The episode explores reports that Chinese officials sought to weaken Trump politically through American businesses, journalists, and other domestic relationships, while asking whether intelligence officials adequately informed the president, Congress, state election authorities, and the public. Rick argues that election vulnerability does not by itself prove an altered result—but the absence of proven alteration is no excuse for leaving those vulnerabilities unresolved.
