With distractions come the loss of clarity. I begin to think about what’s considered normal today, vs what’s considered abnormal.

• Is wearing expensive jewelry the norm?

• Is a million-dollar home the norm?

• Is working a regular job and taking care of your responsibilities the norm?

• Is the imagery you are seeing on your feed, tv, social media maintainable, or even obtainable for you and your specific situation?

Nothing is wrong with these things, but when they begin to cloud your judgment and you are no longer happy unless you have them, it can cause a problem. Depending only on material things to solely define you, can disempower you if you don’t have the right self-awareness, and self-esteem.

What started this convo is E, discussing a convo with his mom over giving his kids an allowance. I chimed in and said it may depend on the child or person. It depends on what will motivate them to do what you are expecting them to do.
