From Genesis to the New Testament, we see a consistent call to care—not simply for ourselves, but for one another. In this episode, we explore what it means to truly be our brother’s keeper: to love courageously, advocate faithfully, pray intentionally, and step in when God gives us the opportunity and responsibility to act. Building on the previous podcast, Empathy: Emptying Me, we are also reminded that loving others well requires wisdom. We can give, serve, and intercede without becoming depleted or unintentionally enabling others. The goal isn't to love less, but to learn to love well—with compassion, discernment, and trust in God. Lord willing, may we be willing to stand in the gap, use our voices, extend our hands, and love others in such a way that others might live.

    What if one of the strongest people you know is quietly carrying the deepest pain? What if the smile you see every day is hiding a battle no one else knows exists? Today's podcast is inspired by the title of a poem God gave me. While I can't share the entire poem until it's published in an upcoming book, I will share a few stanzas throughout this episode because its message speaks directly to what we're about to discuss. We've all heard the familiar phrases: Men and women are like night and day. Women are from Venus, and men are from Mars. And yes, there are differences. We often serve different roles within our families and society, and we each bring unique strengths and perspectives. But beyond those differences lies a truth that unites every one of us… We are human…. We all experience heartache. We all know rejection. We all wrestle with disappointment, fear, grief, and loss. Whether the wound is visible on the outside or hidden deep within the heart and soul, we all bleed. As I reflected on that truth, I came across a statistic that stopped me in my tracks. According to the CDC, nearly 80% of suicide deaths in the United States are men. Suicide continues to be one of the leading causes of death for men under the age of 50. I couldn't just read those numbers and move on. I had to ask myself... Why? Why are so many men suffering in silence? Why do so many feel they have to carry their burdens alone? What has convinced them that asking for help is a sign of weakness instead of courage? Today, we're going to have an honest conversation about pain, purpose, and hope. My prayer is that whether you're a man listening today, someone who loves a man who's struggling, or simply someone searching for understanding, you'll hear something that reminds you of this simple but powerful truth: No one was created to suffer alone.
