Jim Ervin of Time Signatures hosts this special edition of Community Convos, catching up with Freddie Cunningham and Marge Mooney of Root Doctor to celebrate the official proclamation of Root Doctor Day! Although one of Lansing’s favorite blues bands officially retired in 2021, Root Doctor has reunited for special engagements over the past five years. Now, the band has another reason to celebrate: the proclamation of Root Doctor Day and the birthday of its legendary singer, Freddie Cunningham! On Sunday, November 1, Root Doctor will mark the occasion with a live performance at the Green Door. Former and current members of the band will take the stage, with Tommy Foster opening the show.
Find out more details about the story behind Root Doctor Day and a look at this special celebration of Lansing’s blues legacy!
