Child sexual abuse is far more common than most parents realize: 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by age 18. But there's hope. In one of the most powerful episodes I've recorded, I sit down with childhood sexual abuse survivor and activist Erin Merryn, who has spent 15 years getting Erin's Law passed in 38 states. This groundbreaking legislation requires K-12 schools to teach personal body safety education - giving children the language and knowledge to "get away and tell today." Erin shares her journey from survivor to advocate, the real reasons some states resist this life-saving education, and the incredible stories of other children whose lives have been changed (and saved) by learning this law. In This Episode: What Erin's Law is and why it's being passed state-by-state across America (and internationally)The difference between "personal body safety education" and sex educationStatistics, such as "90% of child sexual abuse is committed by someone the child knows and trusts, NOT strangers"How to access FREE curriculum and resources through the Erin's Law FoundationWhat parents & supporters can do right now to support this legislation in the remaining 12 states About Erin Merryn: Erin Merryn is an author, activist, and survivor who has dedicated her life to protecting children from sexual abuse.
