But now, with a lack of a clear direction of where to go, I don’t want to have that responsibility on my shoulder. I can carry that when I’m there, but when I’m not there, it’s too tiresome.” (Kerrang)

Dolly Parton was not just a country artist, but she had more rock and roll spirit than most rock bands in history. Her levels of musical talent were matched by her charisma and charity work, which is impressively high. The world is better for having a legend like the Backwoods Barbie in it for 80 great years.

“The Christian metal band Demon Hunter are in the process of suing Netflix over the name of a popular 2025 K-pop movie because of its similarity to their own moniker. The film in question is an animated fantasy movie titled Kpop Demon Hunters. Not only was the movie a massive success but Netflix teamed up with the live event company AEG Presents for a global concert tour that was announced in May of this year. The dates haven't been confirmed yet but it's widely assumed that the tour will launch in 2027. As reported by Complex, Demon Hunter filed a lawsuit against Netflix, Netflix Studios and AEG Presents in California yesterday (Aug. 18) claiming "trademark infringement, false designation of origin and unfair competition" over the Demon Hunter name, which they have gone by for the last 25-plus years.” (Loudwire)

  • SPOTIFY To Label AI Music and GOOD CHARLOTTE Grooming? | The Podcast That Rocked

SONG OF THE WEEK: Meg Myers “Eye” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxDc96_Ptg

“Spotify is introducing a new feature that will highlight if an artist has been generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The streaming service says the AI Persona badge, that will start appearing on some profiles from mid-September, will flag to listeners if an "artist's identity may be AI-generated and does not represent a real person". The changes are being introduced to give users "more transparency" about what they're hearing, Spotify says. It comes after some music fans made it "clear" to the streamer they don't like seeing a profile that seems to be a human, to then realize it's AI-generated. Swindled sit in the beer garden of the Board Inn pub in Sunderland. Felix is dressed in a white jumper, Thomas is wearing a green t-shirt, Will is wearing a white overshirt, Jonny is wearing a black jumper with a white collar and Alex is wearing a black shirt with a necklace. Swindled played the Introducing stage at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in May AI-generated music has long been a concern for fans and artists. Musician Alex Winn tells BBC Newsbeat he thinks the incoming feature is a "really good thing". "It almost separates the people who have created music properly from the people just using AI," says guitarist Winn, who plays in the North East band Swindled.” (BBC)

SONG OF THE WEEK: Northlane “CUT_it” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eP9aoe2F6E

“Sid Wilson, a native of Des Moines, Iowa, joined Slipknot as a turntablist in 1998, becoming the band's ninth member. He was in place for the recording of Slipknot's 1999 self-titled debut. In a 2022 interview with Kerrang!, Wilson said he was "heavy into the rave scene and learning to DJ" when he was growing up. That eventually led to partying "pretty hard." "If you see the amount (of energy) I put into a Slipknot live show, it's 100 percent, so just translate that into partying. Wilson notably broke both of his heels in 2008 after jumping onstage during the opening night of the Mayhem Festival tour. Outside of Slipknot, Wilson would continue to perform sets as DJ Starscream. He also started his own record label, Vomit Face Records, in 2025.” (Loudwire)
