概要
The thought of a vanished brother returns with a cheap black frame found in a church annex thirty years later - a photograph inscribed "For Diane. I'm sorry. - Martin." How could a man declared drowned without a body leave a note that unravels three decades of silence, and what secret did that frame finally expose?
In this episode, we follow how a discovered photograph reconnects a sister to a past she thought closed, tracing the items, memories, and decisions that shifted one family's understanding of a disappearance. What did the inscription and a hidden tote bin reveal about the night Martin disappeared?
Person: Martin Farrell
Date: June 4, 2019
Location: Harwick Community Church annex
Event: Martin declared drowned with no body recovered in June 1989
Person: Diane Farrell
- The framed photograph was a cheap black plastic frame containing an 8x10 print with the inscription "For Diane. I'm sorry. - Martin."
- Martin Farrell disappeared in June 1989 at age 24; his truck was found at the Cauley River with wallet on the seat and fishing gear on the bank.
- By spring 1989 Martin owed approximately $19,000 to Dennis Colp and had been beaten twice on Colp's orders before his disappearance.
- No body was ever recovered from the Cauley River and the coroner ruled the death an accidental drowning, closing the case within two weeks.
- Diane was 61 in spring 2019, had carried a plastic tote from her mother Rose's house since 2003, and on June 5, 2019 she opened the tote after finding the photograph.
