Some conversations don't happen in meetings. They don't happen at dinner either. They happen in the quiet — when you're wondering why you're exhausted, why you keep saying yes, or why doing everything right still feels like something is off.

That's where The Permission Slip begins.

Hosted by Nicole Morris — speaker, author, and founder of Labels Be Gone™ — this podcast explores the internal narratives quietly shaping how we live, lead, and show up in our relationships. Each episode creates space to name what's been running in the background: the roles we've outgrown, the patterns we've normalized, and the weight we've carried so long we stopped questioning whether it was ours.

Through solo reflections and honest guest conversations, The Permission Slip doesn't rush toward answers. It slows down long enough to ask better questions.

Because you don't need to become someone new. You need permission to stop carrying what was never yours to begin with.

  • Permission Granted solo w/Nicole Morris: The Freedom in Saying "No"
    2026/07/29

No is a complete sentence. Most of us were never taught to let it be one.

We learned to say no the way you apologize — with an explanation attached, a reassurance that we still cared, a door left open just wide enough that the person asking didn't feel rejected. And somewhere in all of that softening, the no stopped being a boundary and became a negotiation.

In this episode, Nicole Morris gets honest about where the discomfort with no actually comes from, what boundaries really are — and aren't — and why the guilt that shows up when you start saying no to people who were counting on your yes is not evidence that you did something wrong.

It is evidence that a pattern is breaking.

Saying no is not selfish. It is self-respecting. And there is a version of you that already knows the difference.

Reflection Question: What is one yes you are currently living that you never actually agreed to?

  • Permission Granted (solo) | Don't Take the Bait
    2026/07/20

Every day you wake up and walk into a world that is professionally, algorithmically, and sometimes personally invested in pulling you off your center.

The headline designed to spike your nervous system before you've finished reading it. The family comment dropped at exactly the right moment to pull you back into a dynamic you've spent years trying to leave. The workplace urgency that materializes every Friday afternoon to make sure your weekend belongs to someone else's anxiety. The scroll that started as five minutes and ended somewhere you never intended to go.

None of that is accidental. The bait is engineered. And it is not designed for the unaware — it is designed specifically for people who care. The more invested you are in the world, in your relationships, in being responsible and informed and present — the more surface area you give the hook.

In this episode, Nicole Morris breaks down the mechanism underneath all of it. How social media algorithms learned that your emotional reaction is more valuable than your time. How outrage and fear travel faster than joy and nuance — and why the system keeps serving you more of whatever made your thumb stop. How the family member who knows exactly which comment will get you defensive and the headline writer who knows "major airline" will make you click are running the exact same playbook. And how workplace manipulation uses manufactured urgency to keep you reactive, never strategic.

This is not a conversation about logging off and disappearing. It is a conversation about the difference between being engaged and being activated. Between choosing where your energy goes and having it extracted from you by systems and people who profit from your reaction.

You are allowed to notice the hook before it lands. You are allowed to let it pass. You are allowed to protect your peace without owing anyone your outrage, your anxiety, or your attention.

Who told you that your reaction belonged to them? Do you still believe them?

Reflection Question: Where are you spending emotional energy this week that you didn't consciously choose to spend?

  • Permission Granted solo w/Nicole Morris: Let the Ship Sink
    2026/07/13

Some things don't end because they're bad. They end because they're finished.

That distinction matters — because most of us were never taught to let something go simply because it had run its course. We were taught to fix it, fight for it, or find a way to make it work. Letting go, without a catastrophic reason, can feel like failure. Like giving up. Like something must be wrong with us for not wanting to hold on.

But sometimes what we're holding on to isn't the relationship — it's the familiar discomfort of it. The feeling we know. The version of ourselves that existed inside it.

In this episode, we talk about what it really means to release — not just relationships with people, but relationships with jobs, organizations, communities, and versions of yourself that no longer fit where you're going. We talk about why familiarity gets mistaken for belonging, and what it costs you to keep holding on past the expiration date.

Some doors are meant to close. This episode gives you permission to close them — gently, deliberately, and without guilt.

Reflection Question: What are you holding on to right now because it's familiar — not because it's still serving you?

The permission to let go was always yours. If you're ready to do the work — start at labelsbegone.com.
