- Brian Whitfield signed into the conservation studio at 7:50 AM on May 19, 2011 and signed out at 5:40 PM the same day, then returned over the following three days.
- A motion sensor registered movement inside the conservation studio at 11:17 PM on May 21, 2011 despite no corresponding police security log entry.
- The wrapped canvas was protected with brown kraft paper and blue painter's tape; the museum purchased Trimaco brand kraft paper in bulk and kept a partial roll in the contract staff supply drawer.
