  • 189. The Man Jesus Will Not Forget | Pergamum Part 2
    2026/06/26

In this episode of The PRODCAST, we finally enter Christ’s letter to the church in Pergamum and work carefully through Revelation 2:12–13.Jesus introduces Himself as “the One who has the sharp two-edged sword.” That title was not accidental. Pergamum was the seat of Roman power in Asia, where the governor possessed the legal “right of the sword”—the authority to condemn and execute. Christ therefore confronts the pretensions of Rome directly: Caesar may carry a sword that can kill the body, but Jesus Christ carries the true sword of divine judgment in His mouth. We also examine one of the most arresting statements in the New Testament: “I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is.” What exactly was Satan’s throne? Was it the enormous altar of Zeus, the serpent-filled sanctuary of Asclepius, the Roman judgment seat, the imperial cult, or the entire pagan religious system of Pergamum? I argue that the imperial cult is the primary historical referent, while the whole city had become an integrated cathedral of demonic counterfeits. Then we meet Antipas, the faithful Christian witness who was killed in Pergamum for refusing to deny the name of Christ. Jesus gives this obscure martyr the very title He claims for Himself: “My faithful witness.” Rome killed the man, but Christ crowned him. The empire threw him away, but the King wrote his name permanently into Holy Scripture. This episode is about two swords, two thrones, two kingdoms, and one unavoidable question:Will you hold fast the name of Jesus Christ when holding it becomes expensive?Next week, we continue into Revelation 2:14–17 and examine the doctrine of Balaam, the teaching of the Nicolaitans, Christ’s command to repent, and the promises given to those who overcome: the hidden manna, the white stone, and the new name.If this episode strengthens your faith, please like the video, subscribe to the channel, leave a comment, and share it with someone who needs to hear it. • 188.. What Is Satan's Throne? | Pergamum Part 1
    2026/06/19

WHAT IS SATAN'S THRONE?A city perched a thousand feet in the air like a god looking down on the world. Temples to Zeus, Athena, Dionysus, and Asclepius. The first altar in the entire Roman province of Asia ever raised to worship a living Caesar as a god. And tucked into the lower city, living every single day under the shadow of the whole pagan pantheon, a tiny congregation of Christians was trying to confess one Lord in a city drowning in a hundred of them. This is Pergamum. The city the risen Christ calls the place "where Satan's throne is."ABOUT THIS EPISODEIn Part 1 of our three part series, we climb the acropolis of ancient Pergamum and set the stage for one of the most loaded letters in the book of Revelation. Before you can hear what Jesus says to this church, you have to see the city He says it to, because every image in the letter (the sword, the throne, the hidden manna, the white stone) is pulled straight out of the streets, temples, and politics these believers walked through every day.We trace how a dead king's silver bought a dynasty, how that dynasty handed itself to Rome, and how Pergamum became the mother city of emperor worship in the East. We stand in front of the throne shaped altar of Zeus with its serpent legged giants carved into the stone. We climb to the temple of Athena the victory bringer. We pass the theater of Dionysus. And we walk the Sacred Way down to the Asclepieion, the most famous healing sanctuary in the Roman world, where live serpents slid across sleeping pilgrims and a snake god was hailed as savior.By the end, one question is left hanging in the air: where exactly is Satan's throne? The altar of Zeus is a candidate. The serpent in the sanctuary is a candidate. But neither one is the answer. There is a third structure on that mountain, and you will not see it until Part 2.IN THIS EPISODE1. Why modern Christians know less about Pergamum than any of the seven churches, and why that matters2. How a Greek officer turned a dead king's nine thousand talents of silver into an entire kingdom3. Why Rome treated Pergamum as a friend and a gift rather than a conquered enemy4. How Pergamum became the first city in Asia to build a temple to a living emperor5. The throne shaped altar of Zeus and the ancient war in heaven carved into its base6. The biblical thread running from the serpent in Eden to the giants of Canaan7. The cult of Dionysus and the immorality hiding behind the city's public worship8. The mystery religion of Demeter and the secret names that make the white stone land so hard9. The Asclepieion, the serpent who called himself savior, and the impossible choice facing a Christian family with a dying childCHAPTERSIntroductionPart 1: The Counterfeit City on a HillPart 2: A Dead Man's SilverPart 3: The Rival Serpent CrushersPart 4: The Mountain Full of GodsPart 5: The Serpent in the SanctuarySCRIPTURE: Revelation 2:12 to 17NEXT TIME ON THE PRODCASTIn Part 2 we finally name the throne. • The Prodcast #186 — Revelation 2 The Second Death
    2026/05/22

What are you willing to lose for Jesus Christ? In this final episode of our four-part series on the church in Smyrna, we bring the entire letter together. Jesus speaks to a poor, slandered, persecuted church and gives them two staggering promises: the crown of life and protection from the second death. Rome could threaten their bodies, imprison them, and even execute them, but Rome could not touch the final verdict of the risen Christ.Smyrna teaches us that the church is not measured by comfort, cultural approval, money, visibility, or worldly success. The church is measured by faithfulness to Jesus Christ when pressure rises, when compromise becomes convenient, and when obedience becomes costly. The empire looked permanent while it was dying. The church looked weak while it was conquering. This episode explores the crown of life, the second death, the endurance of the persecuted church, the faithfulness of Polycarp, and why Smyrna receives no rebuke from Christ. If Smyrna teaches us anything, it is this: survival is not the highest good. Faithfulness is.In This EpisodeWe cover:• Why Smyrna speaks first to persecuted Christians around the world today• How Polycarp’s courage was formed long before the flames were lit• What Jesus means by “the crown of life”• Why Rome’s crowns were counterfeit glory• What the “second death” means in Revelation• Why Rome could kill Christians but could not conquer them• Why Smyrna receives no rebuke from Jesus• Why cultural pressure often reveals faithfulness rather than failure• How every generation faces its own version of Rome• Why Christ is worth more than safety, comfort, prosperity, reputation, freedom, and life itselfKey Quote“The empires always look permanent while they are dying. The church often looks weak while it is conquering.”ScriptureRevelation 2:8–11“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this: ‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear what you are about to suffer.’”Wrath And GraceA huge thank you to our new channel partner, Wrath and Grace, who are now helping with video post-production for the PRODCAST. Smyrna was the church pressured from the outside. Pergamum will be the church tempted from the inside. And if persecution is one of Satan’s weapons against the church, compromise may be an even deadlier one.

  • 185. Deny Christ Or Die?? (Smyrna Part 3)
    2026/05/15

DENY CHRIST OR DIE??? (SMYRNA PART 3)Rome thought suffering would destroy the Church.Instead, suffering revealed who truly ruled the world. In this episode of the PRODCAST, we enter the terrifying and glorious second half of Christ’s letter to the church in Smyrna. Jesus does not promise escape from persecution. He promises something far greater. He reveals that Satan’s fury is temporary, suffering is measured, martyrdom is not defeat, and death itself has already been conquered by the risen Christ. We examine Revelation 2:8-11, the theology of persecution, the meaning of “ten days,” the downfall of Satan in Revelation 12, and the extraordinary martyrdom of Polycarp, the bishop of Smyrna who stood before Rome and refused to deny his King. This is one of the most powerful passages in the entire book of Revelation.IN THIS EPISODE:Why Jesus commands Christians not to fear sufferingHow Christ’s resurrection changes the meaning of deathWhy Satan’s persecution intensifies before judgmentWhat “ten days” of tribulation actually meansHow martyrdom became the church’s victory weaponThe astonishing story of Polycarp and the fires of SmyrnaWhy Rome’s greatest threat was ultimately powerlessHow faithful suffering publicly declares that Jesus is Lord“The persecution was intensifying not because Satan was winning, but because he knew he was losing.”“Rome thought it was silencing Polycarp. Instead, it created a sermon that has preached for nineteen centuries.”TEXT:Revelation 2:8-11“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear what you are about to suffer…’”If this episode strengthened your faith, share it with someone who needs courage to stand firm in an age of compromise.Subscribe to the channel and join us next week as we examine Christ’s promise of the crown of life and the destruction of the second death.SUPPORT THE CHANNEL:Join this channel to help support the ministry and get access to perks
