In episode three of The Other Ireland podcast we hear from Nelly, originally hailing from Ballyragget in County Kilkenny.

Nelly has led an extraordinary life, having left her hometown at the age of 14 to work in Dublin.

Throughout the episode we will listen to her stories shared of the folklore around Ballyragget, a supernatural experience in Rathmine's Cathal Brugha Barracks and the hardships she faced through her lifetime.

In episode two of The Other Ireland podcast we hear from childhood friends Conor and Tom from Dublin.

In 2010, when the lads were 16, Tom's mother brought them on a summer trip to Arklow in County Wicklow. It was the summer before they were due to finish their last year in school.

A few nights into their stay, in a holiday rental, they both experienced something supernatural. The experiences they describe are eerily similar.

Welcome to the very first episode of The Other Ireland.

Every family has stories, and this is where mine begins. In this opening episode, I explain how The Other Ireland came to life and why I wanted to create a podcast dedicated to preserving Ireland's folklore, supernatural tales and family traditions before they're lost.

The episode all started with a conversation with my parents about the stories they remembered growing up. After my Mam sent me a voice note recalling some of the tales she had heard, I realised there was something special worth preserving.

That inspired me to ask my Mam's side of the family to share the stories they remembered, and together those conversations became this first episode.
