  • Women Just Want To Take Birth Home With Them-Jacqueline Thiessen Companion Series
    2025/07/11

Jacqueline Thiessen is a former midwife, doula, holistic facialist, and mother whose path has been anything but conventional. Raised on ranches across B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan, and later training and raising horses in the Prairies, her early life was steeped in connection to the land, animals, and birth in its most primal form. She started her own horse training business as a teenager but soon felt a deeper calling.

Her journey led her from Las Vegas to the Hopi Reservation, to Afghanistan, and eventually to midwifery school. She trained at a U.S.-based program, spending two years immersed in birth work at a charity birth center in the Philippines, and later served as a midwife for four years in the remote islands of Micronesia. After returning to Canada and completing the Midwifery Bridging Program, she practiced in Ontario until 2022, when she chose to step away from the system to honor her values around bodily autonomy. Shortly after, she gave birth to her son—a moment that felt like a sacred gift from that decision.

Now living on a small homestead with her husband, son, and animals, Jacqueline weaves her love of ancestral wisdom, holistic skincare, and hands-on healing into everything she does. Through her work as a doula and her emerging platform The Primal Birth Haven, she advocates for physiological, undisturbed birth and supports women in reconnecting with the primal intelligence of their bodies.

I hope you enjoyed the powerful, beautiful weaving of story medicine, experiences, life and death that Jacqueline has shared in this scared space. If you feel called to connect with Jacqueline her email address is below.

    Blessings,

  • The Goddess Arrives Home-Birth Story Companion Series With Tanya Colaceno
    2025/05/28

    Guest Tanya Colaceno

"I’m a mother of three beautiful children, and my journey into healing, empowerment, and self-discovery truly began through birth. While my path started nearly ten years ago, it was the last six years that transformed everything for me.

My first daughter was born in a hospital setting that left me deeply traumatized. What was labeled “normal” care was anything but compassionate, and I spent the first six years of her life living in fear, disconnected from my body and my power. When I became pregnant with my second daughter, I was still following the rules, doing what I was told without questioning—even when I was labeled high-risk simply because my first baby came early.

Something shifted late in that pregnancy. A quiet but powerful voice inside told me I couldn’t keep giving my power away. That was the true beginning of my journey back to myself.

It was during my third pregnancy that everything changed. I chose to birth outside of the hospital with a traditional birth attendant, and my son’s arrival showed me just how strong and capable I truly am. During that time, I also did deep healing work around womb and body trauma with the support of a beautiful, wise woman. I began to understand the sacredness of honoring ourselves—before, during, and after birth.

This unfolding has opened doors not just for my own healing, but for my children and our entire family. Now, I offer Closing of the Bones ceremonies—a deeply nurturing and sacred practice—to hold space for others on their own healing journey. It is my honour to support women in remembering their strength, reconnecting with their bodies, and being lovingly witnessed as they return home to themselves."

    One of my favourite quotes

“When a woman is shown her power, the world is forever changed.”

  • Honu ,Hawaii Part1
    2025/04/26

In the Hawaiian language, "honu" (pronounced "hoe-new") refers to a sea turtle, specifically the Hawaiian green sea turtle. The honu is a significant symbol in Hawaiian culture, often revered as a spiritual guardian, protector, and symbol of longevity.

My Family is embarking on a beautiful journey to Hawaii. This episode is a journey of the Honu, it is a spiritual path, it is pieces of my heart and soul shared and has felt like a pregnancy of sorts.

I hope you enjoy this share. If this spoke to you I would love to hear from you.

    Blessings,

    Victoria

  • 7 Gates of Hell To Seeing Clearly - Part 2 With Darla Farhat, The Birth Of Mahdi- Traditional Birth Companion Series
    2024/12/23

Born and raised in Niagara Falls Ontario, Darla hung onto silver linings as a way of life as a little girl. She grew up fast and went onto Mcmaster University for Health Science followed by a career as a behaviour support specialist for individuals residing in a home living with Autism and dual diagnosis for 12 years. She was then accepted into a private paramedic program. Motivationally spoke in elementary schools, troubled youth and University pre-med students. A creative soul she writes poetry and wrote wellness articles for a local magazine. Currently, she has relocated to Nova Scotia and works for the Department of Justice, helping victims and their families navigate through the criminal court processes while providing support in court for victims of crime. Recently she received a promotion and now works in a specialized court for victims of Domestic Violence.

At age 40 she met the love of her life.

At age 43 pregnant was the last thing she thought she would be, but God is the best of planners and the disposer of all affairs. She is a Mother, and suddenly every word and credential that came before this seems to pale in comparison now.

    She is a Mother.

Darla's episode is one for the books! Darla shares her story medicine with us from her maiden, to mother, and the deep loss, the death of the crone and matriarch of her & her husband's family, while Darla was pregnant with her first son Mahdi. Darla shares with us the journey she took to Lebanon to bury her mother in law while 7 months pregnant, Darla shares her pregnancy outside the system, her beautiful and intense birth with companion Kasia Diana, and losing her eyesight leading up to the birth of her Mahdi. This episode is the poetry of Life. Birth, Death & Love.

It’s also key to note, Darla did not touch on this in episode but worth noting, Madhi was born “small” 5.5 pounds full term, I guess after speaking with family Darla and Abe found out that many of Abe’s family members children were all born around 5 pounds , and all grew into strong, large men!
