In this week’s episode we listen to a selection of poems written by students from Westside Comprehensive School. The pieces were created for an event called The Poetry Slam, which, as we hear at the start of the episode, is about more than simply performing the poems aloud. The students were given the theme Protest and each poem was shaped around that idea. As mentioned in the podcast, some of the topics explore sensitive themes, including references to suicide.
