  • From Ice Rinks to Mount Assiniboine: The impact of longer outdoor excursions on our local connection to nature (with David Orr)
    2024/04/20

Dave is back, and this time we go deeper. We both share stories of times that we've gone further than a simple hike, and how that has impacted us in our extended lives. In 2015, Dave and others joined me as we attempted to climb Mount Assiniboine (I had climbed it twice previously), and when it comes up in our conversation we both explore what we learned from that trip.

If you'd like to know more about Outward Bound, there are several links below that will take you to the various worldwide chapters of the organization. He currently teaches in Kelowna, British Columbia in a forestry program designed to introduce students to the forestry industry. Beyond simply learning about forestry, students get authentic learning opportunities that engage them in nature and allow them to experience the outdoors with the support of community members and great teachers.
