What followed became one of the most internationally scrutinized criminal investigations of the modern era.
The investigation involved multiple suspects, controversial forensic evidence, several trials and dramatically different judicial decisions.
Rudy Guede was ultimately convicted of Meredith's murder, while Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were definitively acquitted of the killing in 2015.
But the legal story did not completely end there.
In 2025, Italy's Supreme Court definitively upheld a separate conviction against Knox for criminal slander after she falsely accused Patrick Lumumba during the initial investigation.
In this episode, I go back to the beginning and reconstruct the case using the established judicial record, distinguishing confirmed facts from allegations, disputed interpretations and later developments.

This episode also discusses a separate conviction against Amanda Knox for criminal slander concerning Patrick Lumumba. That conviction relates to a false accusation made during the original investigation and is separate from the murder conviction that was overturned in 2015.
