Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.
David Lawrence runs Michigan Elite Conditioning for Athletes (MECA). He has four locations and forty five employees… Plus over a hundred professional and Olympic athletes have come through his doors.
It all started with $8000 life savings during a recession. No one was hiring, so David and his wife opened a gym instead.
MECA’s now trained Super Bowl champions and Olympic athletes.
In this episode of The 1% Podcast, we covered:
→ David opening his first gym with $8,000 in savings during a recession
→ The transformation of a 158 pound benchwarmer into a state finalist quarterback
→ Why most gyms fail in what he calls "the messy middle"
→ Coaching a 63 year old who couldn't do a single chin up to a state powerlifting title
→ How his faith shapes the way he runs the company
Thanks to David for making the time to come on the show. Glad to share this conversation with you all!
