Welcome to The Hidden Diaries of a Broken Husband.
This is not a place for me to complain, to keep a record of wrongs, or to expose another person.
It is a place to bring hidden struggles into the light of God’s Word so that hurting husbands, and
anyone carrying unseen burdens, might find hope in Christ.
During one of the hardest seasons of my marriage, I kept a private journal. It contained fears,
prayers, questions, and wounds that only God saw. As I wrote, I poured out my heart to the
Lord, trying to make sense of pain, confusion, and uncertainty.
When God brought reconciliation to our marriage, I made a decision. I went back through those
pages and removed many of the painful details. I didn’t want my journal to become a case
against my wife. I wanted to protect reconciliation rather than preserve a record of wrongs.
But although those pages were removed, the lessons God taught me through that season
remained.
For a long time, I kept those lessons hidden between me and God alone. Then one day I read
these words in 1 Peter 5:9:
“Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by
your brotherhood throughout the world.” (ESV)
“Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout
the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
1 Peter 5:9 NIV
That verse reminded me that none of us suffer alone. Somewhere, another husband is lying
awake at night with the same fears. Another wife is carrying hidden burdens. Another believer is
wondering if anyone understands.
So I decided to share these hidden struggles, not to dishonor my wife, not to justify myself, and
not to relive old wounds, but to point people to the sufficiency of Christ.
Some of the subjects we’ll discuss are difficult. Anxiety. Fear. Temptation. Loneliness. Marriage.
Separation. Bitterness. Forgiveness. Trust. Perseverance. These are not theories to me. They
are battles I have fought, and in many ways, continue to fight.
This podcast is not about finding strength in ourselves. It is about weak, broken, and sinful
people learning to trust a strong Savior.
If you find yourself carrying burdens that no one else sees, my prayer is that these
conversations will remind you that you are not alone, that God’s Word is sufficient, and that
Christ is faithful even in the darkest seasons of life.
And because I want to protect my wife, protect the sanctity of our marriage, and respect
the privacy of our family, I’m going to remain anonymous. I won’t be using this podcast
to put my wife on trial, and I’m not here to convince you that I’m always right. I’m going
to talk about my own struggles, the things I’ve gone through, the things I’ve fought, the
things I’m still fighting, and the ways I’ve gotten things wrong along the way. But at the
end of the day, this isn’t really about me. It’s about you. If I can take the things I’ve
experienced—the pain, the fear, the mistakes, the questions, and even the things God
has taught me through them—and share them in a way that encourages someone else
who may be walking through something similar, then that’s why I’m here.
