概要
A quiet discovery in a rented garage revealed a fed four-foot red-tailed boa named Clio, alive in a heated tank while her owner, Donald Hunt, had been dead for nine days - and a logbook showed care continued five days after his death. How did a man keep a perfectly maintained second life eighty-one miles away, with therapists in two cities, and leave a calendar mapping both worlds in plain sight?
In this episode, we follow the sequence of concrete discoveries and the people connected to them to understand the circumstances around Donald Hunt's two lives and the choices that kept them separate. What did the overlapping therapy, the calendar marked with W and L, and the continuing care of Clio reveal about why he maintained a double life?
Person: Donald Hunt
Date of death: November 13
Location of garage: Fenwick Road, Larkin
Snake: Clio, red-tailed boa, approximately four feet long
Therapists: Paul Enberg (Weller City), Vivian Cho (Larkin)
- The snake was housed in a forty-gallon tank with two digital thermometers and a filtration system and the garage temperature was 78°F.
- Seven spiral logbooks recorded nearly six years of Clio's care with feeding every 10-12 days and consistent handwriting.
- The last logbook entry was dated five days after Donald Hunt's death, indicating someone had been present after he died.
- Donald Hunt died at age 44 of a cardiac cause after a heart condition diagnosed in September, roughly two months before his death.
- A paper desk calendar showed 52 weekly entries of either a W or an L penciled on every Sunday, tracking Weller City and Larkin visits.
