• Be Your Wonderful Weird Self
    2026/10/22

In this episode, Benjamin reflects on the freedom that comes from being comfortable enough to let your real personality show. Using a story from eighth grade about writing his first rap, Yelp for Help, he talks about creativity, play, self-expression, and the danger of polishing so much personality out of your work that it stops feeling like you.

At its core, this episode is about being yourself, keeping creativity playful, and letting your own voice stay visible in what you make.

  • What if the Detour is Part of the Plan?
    2026/10/22

In this episode of The Maker’s Signal, Benjamin talks about the unexpected turns that can make life and creativity feel like they have gone off course. He explores the idea that delays, setbacks, and changes in direction do not always mean failure, and that sometimes the detour itself is where growth, perspective, and preparation happen.

At its core, this episode is about trusting the process, learning from unexpected turns, and believing that a changed route does not always mean a lost purpose.

  • The Maker's Signal - S1 - E6 - Stop Waiting Until You Feel Ready
    2026/09/24

Episode 5 of The Maker’s Signal, “What Kind of Creator Are You?”, is a lighter, more playful episode about the different ways people approach creativity. It walks through several creator types — like the Starter, Perfectionist, Experimenter, Builder, Storyteller, and Finisher — and looks at the strengths and weaknesses that come with each one.

The main idea is that there isn’t one “right” way to be creative. Most people are a mix of several types, and understanding your own habits can help you figure out where you tend to get stuck, what helps you finish, and how to work with your creative personality instead of against it.

At its core, the episode is about self-awareness, creative habits, and learning what kind of creator you are so you can actually make more of what matters.

  • The Maker's Signal - S1 - E4 - How I Use AI to Help Me Write a Song
    2026/09/10

Episode 4 of The Maker’s Signal is about how I use AI as part of my songwriting process without handing the creative work over to AI.

In the episode, I walk through how I developed “She’s Great Rhythm,” showing the ideas, lyrics, and creative direction that came from me first. I then share my desktop and demonstrate how I use Suno Studio to turn those lyrics into a finished musical concept, shaping the style, sound, and overall feel around the direction I already had in mind.

The bigger point of the episode is that AI can be a powerful creative tool when it supports the creator instead of replacing them. The song still starts with the human idea, the human voice, and the human choices — AI simply helps bring that vision to life.

  • The Maker's Signal - S1 - E3 - You Don't Have to Be Just One Thing
    2026/09/03

Episode 3 of The Maker’s Signal, “You Don’t Have to Be Just One Thing,” is about creative identity and the pressure people often feel to fit into one label or one lane. It explores the idea that being a songwriter, writer, programmer, person of faith, or someone interested in technology doesn’t mean you have to choose only one of those things.

The episode argues that having multiple interests doesn’t automatically mean you’re unfocused. The real question is what connects those interests underneath the surface. For Benjamin, that connection is creating with purpose—whether that takes the form of music, books, software, faith-based ideas, or the podcast itself.

At its core, the episode encourages creators to stop asking, “Which one thing am I?” and start asking, “What is the thread that connects everything I care about?”

  • The Maker's Signal - S1 - E2 - Can AI Make Us More Creative--or Just More Lazy
    2026/08/27

Episode 2 of The Maker’s Signal, “Can AI Make Us More Creative—or Just More Lazy?”, explores the tension between using artificial intelligence as a powerful creative tool and relying on it so much that it starts replacing our own thinking, skill, and voice. The episode looks at AI in writing, music, programming, and other creative work, and asks whether it helps us become better creators or simply makes it easier to avoid the hard parts of creating.

The core idea is that AI itself isn’t automatically good or bad—it depends on how we use it. The episode argues that the best use of AI is to amplify human creativity, not erase it, and that creators should still be making the meaningful choices behind the work: what to say, why it matters, and what kind of signal they want to put into the world.
