After the passing within a short timeframe of three monarchs of Hastinapura in Shantanu, Chitrangada, and Vicchitravirya, the caretakers of the throne, Satyavati & Bhishma are plunged into a dilemma over what should happen next in absence of the royal line of Kuru effectively being halted in its entirety in the absence of Bhishma having any offspring.
