    2026/08/10

This show is 25 minutes, and it could change your life.

In this episode, Elizabeth and her producer make a big discovery... after nearly beating the disease, Michael's A1C numbers show a disturbing trend, and a new diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes.

A simple measurement, taken regularly, may give you and your doctor another important glimpse into what's happening with your overall health. It takes only a few minutes, costs nothing, and it's something almost nobody thinks about until there's a problem.

Elizabeth explains what changes to watch for, and that A1C test may be telling you more than you realize.

Later in the show, something considerably more delicious: Elizabeth shares her terrific lemon piccata recipe. It tastes great, it's good for you, and it proves once again that eating healthier does NOT mean surrendering to a lifetime of flavorless food.

This show is 25 minutes, and it could change your life.

Statins are among the most commonly prescribed drugs in America, and on this episode Elizabeth takes a closer look at why this entire class of cholesterol-lowering medications deserves a much bigger conversation. Statins can be extremely effective at lowering LDL cholesterol and reducing cardiovascular risk, but they are not without potential side effects. Muscle pain and weakness are well recognized, liver problems can occur, and statins may also increase blood glucose in some patients, an especially important consideration for people already at risk for diabetes.

And that conversation is becoming even more important. New 2026 cholesterol guidelines substantially expand the number of Americans who may qualify for statin therapy, making it more important than ever to understand why the medication is being prescribed, what your individual cardiovascular risk actually is, and what changes in your body you should be watching for. Elizabeth explains why simply lowering a cholesterol number should never replace understanding the bigger picture of your health, and why informed conversations with your doctor about benefits, risks and alternatives matter.

You'll also learn about Ferritin, the protein that stores iron in your body. A ferritin blood test gives an estimate of your stored iron, rather than merely measuring the iron circulating at that moment.
