概要
A soaked government-issue logbook floated down Elbow Creek and was found intact on September 9, 2017, yet its pages contained three entries written between September 2 and 4 that no one could explain. The entries used correct government format and accurate meteorological readings, were inserted between Marilyn Whitley’s own notes, and appeared while the tower cab was locked from the inside-so who wrote them?
In this episode, we tell the sequence of events from the logbook’s discovery to the entries that puzzled supervisors and colleagues, laying out what was recorded in the field and what remained unanswered. What do correct-style entries, a locked cab, and recurring wood-stove smells on northwest wind days mean together?
Person: Michael Stewart
Date: September 9, 2017
Person: Marilyn Whitley
Location: Clearwater Lookout No. 4, Penter's Cap
Event: Three unexplained logbook entries dated between September 2 and 4
- The logbook was found soaked and swollen against a root wad at the waterline of Elbow Creek.
- Marilyn Whitley began entries at Clearwater Lookout No, 4 on September 1, 2017.
