The La Sagesse gate they tore down that pushed her to power-and then to ruin
In this episode, we trace Jacqueline Creft’s path from a local protest at La Sagesse to a leading role in Grenada’s New Jewel Movement and the People’s Revolutionary Government. We follow the decisions, relationships, and actions that put her at the center of power and ask what happens when the movement turns inward.
Person: Jacqueline Creft
Event: La Sagesse gate protest, gate torn down by Creft and Maurice Bishop
Date: March 13, 1979 (New Jewel Movement seized power)
