The episode details the investigation into Herb Baumeister, an Indiana businessman suspected of being a prolific serial killer during the 1980s and 90s. Following his suicide in 1996, authorities discovered thousands of human bone fragments scattered across his estate, Fox Hollow Farm, where he allegedly lured and murdered dozens of men. While the initial inquiry stalled after his death, the source highlights a renewed forensic effort launched in 2022 to identify the remaining victims using modern DNA technology and genetic genealogy. Investigators now estimate that Baumeister may be responsible for up to 25 deaths on his property, in addition to his suspected involvement in the I-70 Strangler cold cases. The episode emphasizes the ongoing work of the Hamilton County Coroner to provide closure to families who have waited decades for answers regarding their missing loved ones.
