Late August, three in the morning, and Luna is too tired to keep driving. The Desert Inn Motel in Cimarron, Nevada, offers a room with a flickering neon sign and a clerk who barely looks up. He hands her key 107. But the key doesn't work on 107—it opens 109 instead. Inside, a woman sits at the mirror brushing her hair, but the mirror shows nothing.
