  • How I Avoid Overwhelm While Pursuing Big Goals
    2025/04/24

Anytime we have a meaningful goal there’s always a risk that we will become overwhelmed by it. I think that’s normal. We want to set goals that challenge us and stretch us, we want to push ourselves right up to that line of what we’re capable of, but, somehow, not cross over that line. So today I want to talk about some of the strategies I use to manage that balance, so I don’t get overwhelmed by my work. And these are a mix of some really simple, tactical strategies, along with a few beliefs and mindset shifts I’ve learned to create over the years.

  • The Error Exception Method to Rewire Mental Programming
    2025/04/17

In today's episode, I share how we can borrow an idea from Computer Science to handle errors in our mental programming. This is a fun, silly (and, yes, slightly dorky) technique that helps you spot and recover from your negative patterns.

  • If I'm Not Sure, The Answer Is No.
    2025/04/07

Visit thejoywithin.org/5steps for a free, 5 step guide to step back, gain clarity and focus, and take confident action towards your goals.

In today's episode, I talk about the power of sticking with decisions by catching and avoiding indecision. This means: if a decision isn't obvious, the answer is NO!

There are a few key principles behind this:

    1. The power of decision isn’t in making the decision, it’s in sticking to it.
    2. Indecision causes stress by pulling you out of alignment.
    3. Often, indecision is a guise for fear.
    4. The cost of an unmade decision is higher than you think - and, often, higher than the cost of a wrong decision.
    5. We always, already know the right path (sometimes, we just can’t see it).

    I hope you enjoy!

  • Hesitation = Fear
    2025/01/13

Hesitation is the 4th of the 7 Hidden Faces of Fear. It comes in the form of the many, momentary gaps between inspiration and action, little hiccups that cause us to question ourselves and keep us from taking action on our goals.

  • Doubt = Fear
    2025/01/06

Doubt is one of the most sinister masks that fear can wear. It slips into us from so many places we often don't even realize when it's present. It stops us from going after the things we really want, and keeps us stuck, exactly where we are.
