In the summer of 1999, a Toronto teenager leaves her house for what she believes is a new job. She is 15 years old, about to start high school, and had been eager to make some money over the summer. But that afternoon, she never comes home.It would take months of searching before Sharmini Anandavel's family would learn what happened to her. But they still wouldn't know who was responsible.Police would eventually come to believe that the job Sharmini thought she had that day wasn't actually a job at all. They believed someone may have used the offer to get her out of the house. And they had reason to look closely at the man who had connected Sharmini with that job in the first place. He was someone her family knew. Someone they trusted. And although police would come to consider him a strong suspect in Sharmini's murder, he has never been charged.
