In this episode of the Breaking the Silence Podcast, I sit down with Queens, New York-based R&B, pop, and soul singer-songwriter Dia Malai for a powerful conversation about faith, independence, creativity, and building a music career on your own terms.

Many people were introduced to Dia during Season 22 of NBC’s The Voice, where she earned a coveted chair-turn from John Legend, but during this interview, we go deeper than television moments and talk about the woman behind the music.

We discuss her journey from poetry and wordplay into music, how she built her independent career from the ground up, and the release of her highly anticipated 8-track project, The Loop. Dia also opens up about being the founder and CEO of MotiCreates LLC and what it means to remain independent while successfully charting singles on iTunes as an unsigned artist.

This conversation is for every creative who has ever questioned whether they needed permission to pursue their dreams. Dia proves that talent, consistency, and belief in yourself can open doors no label ever could.

If you’ve ever felt overlooked, underestimated, or counted out, this episode will remind you that your gift can still make room for you.
