The Hall of Fantasy presents “Marquis of Death,” originally broadcast June 22, 1953, on the Mutual Broadcasting System. Identified in surviving logs as episode 31, the story is also listed under the alternate title “The Marquise of Death.” It is an original fantasy tale by writer-producer Richard Thorne, with Eloise Kummer featured in the cast.

American novelist David Gormont brings his ailing brother Everett to the small southern French town of Milot to recover. But near the riverbank and the ruins of Château Maupart, villagers whisper of the Marquise de la Mauparte—a vampire legend said to walk after dark. When Everett disappears following an evening stroll, David confronts the fear that has haunted the town for generations.

Old Time Retro Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
