  • God is Homeschooling the Mama, Too | Real Talk for Hard Homeschool Days
    2026/10/08

Homeschool mama, you are never going to get it all done.

The laundry will multiply, the lesson plans will fall apart, and somebody will cry—possibly you.

The first month is hard, and the enemy would love to convince you that hard means you’re failing. It doesn’t.

God is homeschooling the mama, too. He is teaching us to abide in Christ, receive the gospel again, and find faithfulness right in the middle of the interruptions.

Our children don’t need perfectly productive mothers. They need mamas who keep returning to Jesus. So take a breath, give yourself grace, and aim for faithfulness—not productivity.

Christ is enough for the unfinished days.

  • The Irony of Setting Up a Homeschool Space
    2026/10/08

You planned the perfect homeschool room. You bought the shelves, organized the curriculum, labeled the bins, sharpened the pencils, and created a beautiful space where everyone would surely gather each morning with cheerful hearts and eager minds.

And then… your kids all decided they’d rather do school at the kitchen table. 😅

In this episode of The Gritty Gospel Podcast, we’re talking about the irony of setting up a homeschool space — and how something good and beautiful can quietly become something we put far too much hope in.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting an organized, inviting place to learn. But when the room, the curriculum, the aesthetic, or “doing homeschool right” begins to feel essential to our success, it may be worth asking what our hearts are really clinging to.

Homeschooling isn’t ultimately about creating the perfect environment. It’s about faithfully loving, teaching, discipling, and walking with the children God has entrusted to us — whether that happens at a gorgeous schoolroom desk, sprawled across the couch, or surrounded by cereal bowls at the kitchen table.

We’re talking about expectations, organization, comparison, contentment, and the freedom that comes when our confidence rests less in the homeschool we’ve built and more in the God who called us to be faithful in it.

If your homeschool doesn’t look quite like the picture you had in your head, this conversation is for you. 🤍

    In this episode:

    - The dream vs. reality of the “perfect” homeschool room

    - When good homeschool tools quietly become idols

    - Why organization can serve us without ruling us

    - Letting go of comparison and Pinterest-perfect expectations

    - Choosing faithfulness over appearances

    - Remembering what actually matters in our homeschool days

Where does your family actually end up doing most of your schoolwork? Tell us in the comments. 😂

  • Exhausted from Discipling Your Strong-Willed Child?
    2026/10/08

You love your child. You love Jesus. You believe God has called you to homeschool and disciple your children.

**But some days? You're just flat-out exhausted.**

The lying. The disobedience. The attitude. The same conversations. The same correction. The same sin struggles you addressed yesterday… and the day before that. You correct. You discipline. You open God's Word. You point them back to Jesus. You pray. You repent when you lose your own patience.

**And then you wake up tomorrow and do it all over again.**

And somewhere in the middle of another hard homeschool day, you wonder: *Am I actually getting through to this child? Is any of this sinking in? Am I doing something wrong?*

Mama, this is where the rubber meets the road in Christian parenting. Biblical discipleship isn't glamorous. It isn't a perfectly curated homeschool morning with smiling children and open Bibles. Sometimes it's addressing the same lie for the fifteenth time while your math lesson sits unfinished and your coffee gets cold.

And here's the hard truth: **You cannot change your child's heart. Only God can do that.** But you are called to faithfully shepherd it. In this episode of The Gritty Gospel, we're getting real about the exhausting, repetitive, sanctifying work of discipling a strong-willed child who struggles with obedience.

We're talking about what it looks like to address sin without crushing your child's spirit, discipline with biblical conviction, examine your own heart in the process, and keep pointing your child to Christ when you're weary and wondering if anything is changing.

Because faithful discipleship isn't measured by how quickly your child changes, but by your willingness to keep pointing them to Christ—even when you're weary.

**You don't need another parenting formula that promises perfectly obedient kids in five easy steps. You need the truth of the gospel for the trenches you're actually living in.**

So if you're a Christian homeschool mom who is tired, discouraged, and still desperately wants to honor God in the way you parent, pull up a chair. We're going there.

**This is The Gritty Gospel. Where real life meets real gospel truth.** 💬

**Let's talk in the comments:** What's the hardest part of discipling your strong-willed child when you're already running on empty?
