For the first episode of Global Gooners, Johnny is joined by Drew from Eastside LA Gooners to talk about their Arsenal story and the community they’re building in Pasadena.

Drew explains how FIFA and Thierry Henry turned him into a Gooner, how Eastside LA grew from a small group watching Arsenal together into an official supporters’ club, and why creating a welcoming community has always mattered more than simply filling a pub.

We hear about 4am Arsenal matchdays, their support for both the men’s and women’s teams, the emotional moment they received recognition from Arsenal and their brilliant new matchday idea, The Table where supporters earn points and unlock achievements simply by turning up and supporting the team together.

This was our first Global Gooners recording and we encountered some technical issues that affected parts of the audio/video quality.

We considered not releasing it, but ultimately the conversation and Mark's story represent exactly why we started Goonerviews in the first place.

We'll learn. We'll improve. But the people and their stories will always come first.
