  • Jack Giddy: Taupō’s 92-Year-Old World Champs Bowler
    2026/10/16

Taupō bowler Jack Giddy is 92 and heading to England for the World Indoor Bowls Championships in January 2027. He talks about finally getting there decades after his brother-in-law and brother did, and about his long partnership with Dave Jones (Jack leads, Dave skips). He also tells the story of the final that got them selected, which they played after Dave had just heard that his brother-in-law had died. Along the way Jack looks back on his sporting life in Taranaki and Bay of Plenty and his Taupō milk run days, and explains why he thinks the will to win counts for more than ability.
