  • Episode 28: Danny O'Dwyer (Founder of Noclip)
    2026/10/16

Another repeat guest on The Games Press this episode, as I catch up with Danny O'Dwyer following a surprise announcement that he's mostly done with visiting video game studios to film his documentaries in the style we've come to associate with Noclip.

What does that mean exactly? And what's driven such a significant change in direction? As Noclip celebrates its 10th birthday, I sit down with its founder to hear what's going on.

"And when I had that revelation that we've done sit-down, talking head videos with people for a long time. And that is a cost effective — you get a lot of great answers from questions, you have great control over the interviews, all that sort of stuff — but from a personal creative perspective, I am kind of getting sick of doing this, or at least I don't have another 10 years of doing it."

  • Episode 27: Chris Tapsell (Editor-in-chief of Eurogamer)
    2026/05/28

Chris Tapsell is the new editor-in-chief of Eurogamer, having first started at the site back in 2016 when the two of us worked there together.

In the years since then, Chris and I have spent many evenings talking about how we'd run Eurogamer if we were in charge and of course, for me, that was mostly a risk-free exercise as I'd never have to put any of my grand plans into action. For Chris, however, things are a little different. He's now the one behind the reins and it'll be up to him to help guide this site through an increasingly turbulent era for internet media.

So what does that mean for original reporting? And how about review scores, are they a good idea? What's going on with guides and search traffic? There is so much to dig into here and I think you'll really enjoy our conversation.

  • Episode 26: Keza MacDonald (Author of Super Nintendo: How One Japanese Company Helped the World Have Fun)
    2026/03/09

Keza MacDonald is the video games editor for The Guardian and most recently, she's also the author of 'Super Nintendo: How One Japanese Company Helped the World Have Fun', a deep dive into the rich, creative history of one of gaming's most important companies.

We recorded today's episode in front of a live audience as part of Keza's book tour which happened to swing through Brighton last month and if you can forgive some dodgy audio, I think there's a lot to get out of this conversation as we examine Nintendo and why it's lasted the test of time in this particular moment, as much of the Western games industry is on its knees.
