For the past six years, the podcast I founded, designed and built has been focused on one essential question: What Could School Be?

For the past six years, through hundreds of conversations with educators, students, school leaders, researchers, and designers, I have had the privilege of exploring what happens when learning becomes more human, more relevant, more purposeful, and more connected to this complex world young people are actually living in.

In early winter, 2026 I am launching a completely new show titled The Five Angles Podcast.

The idea is simple but the conversations will be anything but.

Each season will take on one fascinating topic and examine it through five different conversations, with five different guests, from five distinct angles.

Rather than trying to cover everything, each season will slow down and go deeper. The goal is to bring together ideas, people, and perspectives that do not always appear in the same conversation, and to explore what becomes visible when we look at one subject from several angles.

Season One is a collaboration with the Human Restoration Project. HRP’s co-founder Nick Covington will co-produce and host each conversation.

What will season one be about, you ask?

For a long time, play and games have been treated as something separate from serious work and rigorous learning. It is what happens at recess or on the weekends, after the assignments and tasks are finished, or when the so-called real learning is over.

But a growing number of educators, business professionals, designers, researchers, students, and creators are challenging that assumption.

So, we are going to talk about what happens when learning becomes more immersive, creative, emotionally resonant, and intrinsically motivating.

Season One will explore how games and play can demand and develop intellectual rigor, strategic thinking, collaboration, and complex problem solving.

We’ll look at how play can create safety, agency, connection, and even healing for young people who have experienced trauma.

We’ll think about inviting people to move from consumers to creators by building their own games, toys, and playful experiences.

And we’ll discuss what educators and business professionals might learn from an industry that has become extraordinarily skilled at capturing attention, designing feedback, building motivation, and helping people persist through different and varying levels of challenges.

We are currently identifying the five guests who will help us explore these conversations.

Our guests will bring their expertise, lived experience, imagination, tension, and surprise to the conversation.

And all this will happen in just Season One!

The full five-episodes will be released at the same time so listeners can move through the entire season as a complete journey and in their own way.
