このコンテンツについて
Annie Gudger is an author, essayist, and podcaster who writes hard and loves harder.
Welcome to The Limited series Podcast, The Fifth Chamber. She Is also a grief Speaker and listener, a grateful wife, mom, sister, daughter, and Yiayia—Greek for grandma—a nod to my heritage that I’m wildly proud of.
When Anne was 28, she got that knock on her door, and her biggest fear had come true. Her husband, Kent, died in a car accident while she was six months pregnant with her son, Jake. The worst experience of her life had just started. While mourning his loss, she had to learn to navigate single motherhood and live again. Everything in her world ultimately changed for the good, but that took time. She later met Scot, her fabulous husband. Then, along came Maria, their amazing daughter. They became a family of four, and in that family, they always brought Kent with them.
Anne wrote her way through grief. What started as a stack of journals all those years ago became her book, The Fifth Chamber.
It has been reviewed as a tender and honest memoir about the dance of loss and life, and how grief can make the heart beat more potent than ever before.
In this Podcast series, Annie reads excerpts from her book, bringing you into the world of both then and now. She is accompanied by her now-husband, Scot, on the standup bass in these beautifully curated episodes that take us on the journey. She also engages in candid and in-depth discussions about the details of the readings, why the readings are essential to her, and insider background on the characters, time period, and story.
