— 1 Corinthians 1:9

One of the greatest truths we can learn about God is that He is faithful.

People can change. Circumstances can change. Feelings can change. Even our own faith can become weak.

But God does not change.

When God makes a promise, He keeps it. When God says He will never leave us, He doesn’t. When God begins a work in our lives, He is faithful to continue it.

God is faithful to complete the work that he has began in us.

God’s faithfulness means:

God can be trusted completely.

What Does It Mean That God Is Faithful?

The word faithful carries the idea of Him being:

Reliable

Trustworthy

Constant

Dependable

True to His word

God doesn’t simply have faithfulness.

Faithfulness is part of who God is.

Deuteronomy 7:9

“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him…”

Notice what Moses says: “He is God, the faithful God.”

God’s faithfulness isn’t dependent upon our circumstances.

It is dependent upon His character.
