• Episode 4: The Emotions Lies Carry
    2026/08/06

Were you allowed to express your emotions when you were a child or did you have to hide them? What if you knew it was okay?

In Episode 4 of the Ever After Podcast, we explore how early wounds often trained us to interpret life through fear, shame, rejection, or striving. Attached to those lies were powerful emotions we never learned how to process. Many of us grew up believing the message, “Conceal, don’t feel” as the church reinforced the idea that emotions were obstacles to truth rather than invitations to healing.

In this episode, we take a deeper look at how Jesus Himself experienced and expressed emotion during His life on earth. Through Anita’s honest sharing of her own emotional struggles, we discover that our feelings do not need to be hidden in shame or suppressed in fear. Instead, when we bring them honestly before God, they can become a pathway into deeper healing, freedom, and intimacy with Him.

    Episode Summary

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • where your emotional upheaval originated and how it is connected to your dysfunctional behaviors
    • how the church has often weaponized your emotions as the enemy of truth
    • how your emotions are a gift and were designed to connect you more intimately to God

Do you ever wonder why certain situations trigger you so easily? What if there are negative messages you are believing about yourself that you are not even aware of?

In Episode 3 of the Ever After Podcast, we explore how the lies we believe about ourselves, God, and others in adulthood are often rooted in the painful messages and experiences we absorbed early in childhood. When painful messages from those early years remain unhealed, they can continue resurfacing—affecting our identity, emotions, relationships, and our view of God in ways we may not even realize.

But there is hope for healing.

In this episode, we invite you into a deeper understanding of how these lies were formed and how they can still hold such power over you. As we begin connecting present struggles to past wounds, you’ll discover why healing matters so deeply, so you can finally experience life as it is without the filter of yesterday’s pain.

    • Proverbs 23:7

    Key Takeaways:

    • Our brain stores negative messages spoken in emotionally intense moments not as memories, but as felt experiences and can be triggered in adulthood, causing us pain.
    • If a parent takes immediate responsibility for harsh words spoken, it is likely not to be remembered negatively by the child.

  • Episode 2: The Stories That Shape Us
    2026/07/23
Do you ever feel you must perform for God to be loved by Him?In the second episode of the Ever After Podcast, we explore how the Gospel has often been reduced to what we must do for God rather than the breathtaking reality of all He has already done to bring us back to Himself.Great storytellers like J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis believed that every story that deeply moves us draws its power from the greater Gospel Story. Stories have a way of slipping past our defenses, awakening both the mind and the heart. Facts may inform us, but stories have the power to transform us.This episode invites you to rediscover the Gospel as the beautiful Love Story it truly is—and to experience the healing that can come through engaging deeply with stories that echo its beauty, sacrifice, longing, and redemption.Episode SummaryIn this episode, you'll learn:why it is so easy to confuse the Gospel as a to-do list as opposed to the beautiful Story that it ishow meaningful stories bypass our brain's defenses and engage our heartswhat happens in our brains when we're deeply engaged in a story and how healing occursResources MentionedPreaching Christ in a Post-Modern World, by Dr. Tim Keller (No longer available for purchase)The Other Half of Church: Christian Community, Brain Science, and Overcoming Spiritual Stagnation, by Dr. Jim Wilder and Michel HendricksThe Ever After Encounter, Anita's premier women's event, DiscoverEverAfter.org You may receive your Free Downloadable Reflection Guide here: https://discovereverafter.org/2026/07/23/episode-2/Featured MoviesTitle: Cinderella (2015)Director: Kenneth BranaghStarring: Lily James, Richard Madden, Cate BlanchettTitle: Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)Director: Rupert SandersStarring: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize TheronTitle: Frozen (2012)Director: Chris Buck and Jennifer LeeStarring: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan GroffScripturesEphesians 3:15-19Ephesians 2:8Ecclesiastes 3:11James 1:8I Thessalonians 5:23Romans 8:29I Peter 2:9Key Takeaways:If the Gospel is by grace, it must be a Story. • Episode 1: The Gap between Head and Heart
    2026/07/15

*What if the greatest obstacle to experiencing God’s love isn’t what you know–but what your heart has learned to believe?

In this opening episode of the Ever After Podcast, we explore the disconnect so many of us feel between what we know about God in our heads and what we actually experience in our hearts.

Many of us believe God loves us–we’ve read the Scriptures, sung the songs, and held tightly to the truth. And yet, His love can still feel distant, hard to access, or just out of reach.

Through Anita’s personal story of struggle, grief and healing, we begin to uncover why this gap exists—and how God meets us not just in truth we understand, but in love we can truly experience.

This episode invites you into a deeper, more experiential knowing of God’s love—one that reaches beyond information and into the places of your heart that long to be seen, known and restored.

    Episode Summary

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • why the head/heart disconnect exists
    • what knowing God really means and why that matters
    • the basis of God's passionate love for us
